Webpage Design and Development
The below report will give information on the development of the website and all the procedures
and tools used to develop it. The process began with information gathering and working
alongside clients to accomplish the process. It also discusses the accomplishments that didn’t
make up and the accomplishments that went through. All this is discussed in the below report.
The development of the website began with information gathering process. The information
about the website and what the company needed was collected. This provided a platform for
understanding the needs of the business, goals, and determine the purpose necessary for creating
the website for the specific audience. Different websites have different functionalities. Therefore,
it was necessary to understand the requirements of the users and develop the kind of website
according to them. (West,2016)
After the information-gathering phase, planning was done in the process to create the website
wireframes and sitemaps to guide the users of the website. User’s opinions, critics and judgment
could be easily tracked and handled by the system. The overall structure and look of the website
are understood at this stage and a description of the interface.
In the design phase, the layout of the website was developed. This determines the look of the
whole website. With the layout in place, information can be represented, and content is
visualized to demonstrate the functionality.
After determining the design of the website, the content of the website was written and
assembled. In this stage, each member contributed in writing the contents for the website that
took quiet a lot of time. The actual development of the website began with every tool in place.
Coding was the main task and objective of the project. Elements of the website including
multimedia and texts are developed. At this stage, much work was done. The index page of the
website was the first to be developed. This provided a template for the development of other
website pages for the purpose of consistency. In the coding stage, the Website has to be worked

on. The responsiveness of the website was done and implement. The main language of
development was HTML for markup and CSS for styling the web pages. All the static pages
were created and tested. We avoided the use of third-party frameworks since it was restricted.
Therefore, the website is pure html5 and css3. Interactivity has been implemented to enable
customers and other users to easily navigate in it. (Macaulay, 2017)
Maintenance has been made possible by writing codes that are understandable by anyone.
Anyone can be able to make changes and updates on the contents of the website. Therefore,
changes can be made without consulting the developer. Another feature that enables the website
to be monitored and for the regular update is the implementation of contact us form that aid the
visitors to provide feedback and also other concerns about the hotel and the website in general.
The website creation was successful with the help of knowledge in Html5 and Css3. The
following are the things that went on well in the creation of the website. We were able to create
the whole 14 pages and naming them according to the naming convention. The consistency of
the navigation was achieved in every page of the website. Also, we were able to create the
company logo by using font awesome.
The use of google font was also a success. The integration of font awesome to the website was
successful therefore leading to adding of social media links in the footer of the website. The use
of JavaScript alert boxes and pop up Window provided the ability to follow the instructions. The
requested One contact form and reservation form using html5 was implemented successfully.
Besides the things that went on well in the website, there were difficulties that we encountered in
the development process. We were not able to include the 20 images into the website and also
the audio type of multimedia. Apart from that, It was also difficult to validate the web pages
using w3c validator though we corrected all the errors. There were a lot of things to be corrected
but time could not allow us to do so. The inclusion of validation icons into the correct pages was
also difficult. It is also difficult to optimize the website to the users of the tablet as we were able
to access the tablet.

We found some parts of website design not consistent. This is evident in the header of the
website where the name and logo of the hotel are located. We also got difficulty in using
JavaScript on some pages like the reference.html. We got a challenge in fixing the pictures of the
hotel into the website.
If we were given a chance to do the website again, we would make use of the framework like
Bootstrap and JQuery which are sophisticated regarding functionality. This would have
improved the design and also the writing of Code. For the website to be dynamic, we could have
changed the language of coding the website. We could have added PHP to facilitate ordering and
database manipulation.
Instead of using so many multimedia contents on the website, we could have used less to make
the website to load faster and avoid lagging. If we were to redo the website again, we would have
worked on the responsiveness of the website. Responsiveness is a key functionality in any
website and plays a major role whether the users are comfortable using the website or not. We
could have optimized the website such that it can be accessed in different platforms.
If we could change anything the website given another opportunity, we would have done as
much as a position to make sure that bill, reservation and the join us forms are functional and
send data to the database for the processing purpose.
The Development of the website involved the whole members of the group. The group played a
major role in its development. The group helped in gathering information from the client. The
information collected involved the functions and processes of the business, the business mission,
vision and general overview of Pacific View Hotel group. The group also help in the technical
specification of the website functionalities. We were able to determine the technical parts and the
overall design of the website, How the code would be optimized and how the users would be

able to navigate through the website. The group was involved I coding the website and determine
the design.
Each member of the group also contributed to the success of the project. Each member was
assigned to create different pages that build up the website. Each content of the website was
contributed by each member of the group, and this enabled the website to be developed faster in
time.
