The advertisement and social media marketing game has always been extremely strong of
the Panasonic company and one such advertisement campaign was done by the company for
raising the awareness regarding the sponsorship of Panasonic Company in 2020 Olympic Games
and also towards its own project which was “Beautiful JAPAN towards 2020”. The targeted
customer segment of this ad was mainly the men and women of the age group of 35 years and
above. Company, in their ad, featured various athletes of Japan and shot them with extremely
beautiful and scenic shots of nature in the background which was a good thing since it addressed
both the motives and objectives of the company. When these ads were posted on Facebook, the
company used the feature of Geo-targeting and therefore people living in or nearby the location

integrating it with both the aims of the company, Panasonic was able to address the psychology

WEEK 3
Abstract
The current article identifies and discusses the problem of rising rate at which the
population is ageing and declining and will analyse the various factors that have resulted in this
state. There are various strategies that this article has presented by implementation of which the
country can control the current situation and develop proactive interventions for dealing with the
crisis of population health. The arguments have been critically analysed and appropriate
conclusion has been formulated.
Research
The writer of the article has argued that there is a difference between population and
public health stating that public health focuses on the vaccination and the diseases while the
population health aspect analyses the reason behind increased immunity of some people towards
diseases as compared to other individuals. The writer has stated that in Japan, the level of
population health has been declining and the government needs to identify and implement
appropriate interventions so that rather than formulating a reactive approach, a proactive
prevention approach can be developed. In Japan, the technology is well advanced and can assist

in meeting out the policy challenges and the country can ultimately lead in the healthcare sector
due to its technological innovation and advancement (Japan needs to prioritize a 'population
health' approach, 2019). The article further took diabetes and dementia into consideration stating
that these diseases does not present any symptom unless excessive damage has been done and
therefore, early identification and taking appropriate actions is a key aspect to reduce the
diseases and its spread. In order to control and monitor the population health, one of the key
aspects is to develop and expand the current HealthCare trends in Japan making it more of a
nurses and community health provider systems rather than the doctor and pharmaceutical
approach that Japan has been following. When the doctors and practitioners would be trained to
give more affordable services focusing on community’s development, it gets easier to shift the
entire perspective towards lifting the current status of population health. Further in the article a
comparison has been made between the status and policies of Japan with numerous other
countries stating that many developed countries today have been working on the healthcare
models adopted by Japan post World War 2. UK focuses on their people’s health through
government run initiatives and institutes providing free primary care. Similarly in US as well,
there are numerous health strategies that have been adopted i.e. 5 years initiatives, health care
purchase subsidies etc. that simplify the entire process of decision making (Djurdjevic and et.al.,
2018). Australia is another such country and their services offered are extremely comprehensive
and provides a multifaceted healthcare services related to the government sector. The writers has
concluded that by modification of their legislation and incorporating those policies that will
assist in meeting the healthcare challenges with respect to economic and demographic aspects
and focus on increasing the quality of life which will resolve the problem of rigorously declining
population and increased rate of ageing.
Although the views and solutions that the writer has presented in the article are logical
and constructive addressing the current major issue that Japan is facing but, there are certain
points or aspects that the writer has failed to address. Author, Nomura and et.al., (2017), has
stated that apart from the factors mentioned above, lack of awareness is also a major factor and
therefore, the government along with inculcating more doctors and nurses working in the
community hospitals, should also emphasize more on the awareness of the general public
regarding the various factors that are leading to the ageing of the entire country and deterioration
of their health. This will help them in preventing those activities that are leading to such
due to its technological innovation and advancement (Japan needs to prioritize a 'population

community hospitals, should also emphasize more on the awareness of the general public
regarding the various factors that are leading to the ageing of the entire country and deterioration
of their health. This will help them in preventing those activities that are leading to such

circumstances and when an individual himself will be more concerned about his health, it will
get easier for the government to function accordingly.
Further another research paper presented by authors, Shibata and Shibata (2017), argues
that in Japan it not easier to implement the change in the traditional healthcare model that is
being followed as giving cheaper treatment and increase the community treatment that is being
given to the public incorporates increased expenditure on behalf of the government and the
decreasing GDP and financial resources of the company do not make this possible. Therefore, it
gets tougher to increase the number of health practitioners who are working freely for the
community and this is another major cause why the country cannot adopt and implement the
models that have been used in the development countries especially USA. Therefore, to simply
compare the current healthcare practices adopted in the country with the other countries is not a
correct thing to do and rather than stating that japan should adopt modes that are being
implemented in other developed countries, it should be encouraged that the authorities of Japan
formulate a model of their own.
Conclusion
The research conducted above helps in concluding that the earlier healthcare model that
was implemented in Japan cannot be implemented in the current economic and financial scenario
of the country. The developed nations with which the current scenario of the country has been
compared i.e. UK, USA and Australia is not a feasible option for Japan since the prices of
therapies and surgeries has increased in the country and hence the healthcare costs have
increased drastically in the country which makes it impossible to give free or low cost treatment
to the public. However, the country can restructure its entire system and lead to increased
education and awareness level amongst the people of the country which will help in resolving the
issue at an individual level thus giving overall result. Therefore, while certain aspects were
presented in the article in a relevant and feasible manner, some of them were blown out of
proportion and could not be implemented on a practical basis.
WEEK 5
Encounter with a beggar
In Japan it is very rare that you come across a beggar that requires any kind of assistance
from you. So there was this one instance when I met a homeless beggar in Osaka and I still
remember that encounter that happened in year 2013. She was just lying on the ground and it was
get easier for the government to function accordingly.

the time of New Year so I decided to give her a 500 yen coin because that was all I had. I chatted
with her for a while and found that she was a drug addict and after running out of all her money
and spending a large quantum of her family’s money as well, she ran away from her home. I
gave her my food as well i.e. the packed food that I was carrying and decided that it was not
good or healthy for her to be rotting away and wasting her life in this manner. She was still in her
20s and there was her whole life in front of her. Therefore, I decided to get her enrolled in the
Crossroads Community church. This church basically takes in everyone who is in need of help
and acts as a home for the homeless and does not deny form providing services to any kind of
individual i.e. irrespective of the diseases or problems that they might be suffering form. Further
there is no need to disclose the identity of the person and no unnecessary documentation is
required as well. These kind of societies simply believe in serving those who are in need with
unconditional love and kindness and support them throughout the process. This would help her
in bringing her life back to the track and keep her away from drugs. The girl, whose name was,
Kanna, as I came to know later, recovered very efficiently and is now studying for the profession
of becoming a teacher. I never lost contact with her and met her occasionally and therefore,
crossroad communities helped in preserving the life of one homeless and drug addict beggar
which has made me believe more in the work they do. The work done by these charities that are
helping the needy people is an extremely supreme and kind act that helps in supporting everyone
and making life a better adventure for them.
CONCLUSION
The above report helped in determining the different writing styles in different types of
communication and different excerpts were presented. An evaluation of a Facebook sponsored
ad for the Panasonic Company was done and after this critical analysis was done and arguments
were presented on an online article related to population health in japan. Lastly in this report, a
reflective piece of writing was presented on an encounter with the beggar.
