Introduction
Bruce requires the web system to notify his players about training sessions. Currently he informs
all the players manually by sending SMS but it is very difficult to inform all the students in this
way and most of the time, some players didn’t receive the SMS or Bruce forget to send them. To
solve this issue Bruce wants to develop a web system on cloud which will decrease his workload.
Cloud is the latest technology and very efficient for the small business. It works best for
businesses that don’t have much staff and high experienced database developers. Businesses that
have not enough infrastructures also use cloud to get better database maintenance.
Implementation of Web Database on Cloud
The cloud is perfect for all data types like structured and unstructured both. There are two
models available in cloud- Traditional and Database as a Service (DBaaS).
In traditional database, the organizations maintain the database by own. Only the difference is
that the organizations access the database via virtual machines.
But in Database as a Service (DBaaS), the cloud service providers do most of the work according
to the provided plans. They take the fee for the services that they provided. Cloud service
providers provide different type of services like –
- Subscription service
- Managed hosting
In subscription service, cloud service providers maintain the database structure physically and
customers maintain the data and operations by themselves. It is right choice for organizations
that have good infrastructure and highly skilled database developers.

In managed hosting, the data maintenance and operations are managed by the service providers.
The customer does not do anything. It is the right choice for small organizations or businesses
who cannot afford the highly skilled database developers.
The web database on cloud can be set on many cloud system. Most of the organizations provides
the cloud setup e.g. Google. To set the web database on cloud following steps are required-
- Go to Google cloud console.
- Select the instance.
- Now create database.

There are lots of benefits of cloud based database-
Not Required IT Infrastructure
The complete database will be maintained by the cloud service provider, so no need of IT
infrastructure. It is very costly to setup the IT infrastructure for small business.
Guarantee in Performance
There will be good guaranteed performance if the cloud database is maintained full by the cloud
service providers. The customer can ask about their performance issues only, the cloud service
provider will manage all the performance issues. If the customer is not having high skilled
experts, it is very difficult to achieve good performance. Therefore, cloud database is the best
option for small businesses.
Latest Technology
The cloud database is the new latest technology which is growing fast very speedily. Traditional
database is has some limitations while the cloud database is providing so many new features.
Specialized Experts
The customer requires special high skilled experts to handle the traditional database. Sometimes
it is very costly to hire high skilled database developers for small businesses. The cloud database
will solve this type of problem.
Security Concerns
From the security point of view, the cloud database is very secure as there is high level of
protection provided by the cloud service providers. The customer does not need to spend lot of
money on the security of the database.

The cloud service providers provides security on data by following ways-
- Electronic signatures
- Encryption/decryption techniques
- Data masking
- monitoring
This feature is most important for Bruce to choose the cloud database system.
Low Budget
As per the budget point of view, it is very beneficial and feasible to switch over the cloud
database from traditional database. it is less in budget as compare to traditional database. There
is lot high competition among cloud service providers and that is why, the budget of cloud
database maintenance is going to increase gradually.
Conclusion
The cloud database is very beneficial for all types of businesses and especially for the businesses
that have no infrastructure, less amount to spend on the database security, maintenance etc. For
the Bruce’s web system, the database based upon the cloud is perfect. It has so many benefits
like database security, perfection, feasible, low budget etc.
It has one limitation that the user cannot access some features of the database but in the case of
Bruce’s web database all things are good. It is the best choice for Bruce’s web system.
