Executive Summary
This reflection report is developed highlighting the characteristic of interface design of Zaika
Restaurant application. This report will provide a proper explanation if the design methodologies
and approaches during the interface design. The interface design of Zaika Restaurant is governed
by ten Heuristic principle for making the application user responsive. The interface design of
Zaika restaurant follows all the user requirements that will be discussed in the report and
reflection report will provide a perfect justification why the interface design of Zaika Restaurant
application is best for solving the problems that are highlighted in the case study. This report will
also explain the future opportunities for the development of Zaika Restaurant application.
Introduction
The online food business is increasing the revenue of many restaurants so Zaika Restaurant
developed an online application for their promotion and increasing the revenue of the restaurant.
The interface design of Zaika Restaurant application is designed as user responsive that follows
the ten Heuristic principle of usability. Further, the authors Yang, Cui, Zhang, P. Pollak,
Belongie, and Estrin have discussed the importance of responsive design for the online
application. They explained the use of wireframe designs that are important in the designing of
interface for online applications. They explained the business strategy diagram for a proper
understanding of the user requirements. The author also discussed different interface designed
for providing a better understanding of best interface designs characteristics ( Yang, Cui, Zhang,
P. Pollak, Belongie and Estrin, 2015).
Zaika Restaurant: User interface Design
The user interface of Zaika Restaurant is developed using the heuristic principle of interface
design thus justifying the fact that the interface design of Zaika Restaurant is the best interface
design addressing all the highlighted problems. Heuristics principles are followed in the interface
design of Zaika Restaurant in the following ways:
No unnecessary options and menu on the screener viewed until and unless the user logs into the
application. The home button is avoided on all the screens. Proper linking is provided on each
page following the Aesthetic and minimalist principle (Refer to figure 1). Pop up’s of the
ongoing actions on the screen are provided to keep the user updated of the actions that are going
on the screen for preventing errors following the Error Prevention principle (Refer to figure 2).
The payment options that are designed are such that it built a relationship with the payment
process of the real world with all the confirmation buttons before the completion of the
transaction following the principle of Match between the system and the real world. Proper
linking on all the pages is provided with correct navigation for the next page following
Consistency and standard principle. Proper linking is provided at the back button and undo
button (Refer to figure 3). Feedback page is provided for the users to enter all the feedback
regarding the service of the restaurant following User control and user freedom principle (Refer

to figure 4). Breadcrumbs are added on the pages for proper navigation of the pages that help the
user to remember the path to the current page following Recognition rather than recall principle.
Status bars are been provided on all the pages for displaying the ongoing processes following the
Visibility of the system status principle (Udo, G. J., and Marquis, 2009).
User Requirements for online Zaika Restaurant Application
The interface design of Zaika Restaurant is according to the user requirements which are
followed in the following ways:
The user has requirement of table booking option before placing of the order, so welcome screen
is provided with table booking options where the user can select the table according to the
number of members. The second requirement of the user is the separate display of the food menu
that view all the food items of Zaika Restaurant and should be such that the user has the user can
select the individual item of their choice and according to the requirement the food menu is
designed providing options for foods, drinks, deals and payment gate where the user can select
the individual food items and can also compare the best deals for them. Individual screen for the
sub-items of the food menu is provided along with the pricing of the items. Individual item
description screens are provided where the user can view the description of the individual items.
The third requirement of the user is the addition of the page that will contain the order details
about the payment, mode of payment and the quantities of the selected food item. To fulfill this
requirement of the user order confirmation page is provided where the user can view their order
details including the pricing, total cost and can edit the quantities of their order. Cart page is
designed where the user can view all the shortlisted items and can edit the items according to
their choice. The fourth requirement of the user is the payment page which is designed with
multiple payment options along with a confirmation page for payment that verifies the
transaction details prior to payment proceedings. The fifth requirement of the user is to provide a
screen that will display the order details and according to this requirement, an order status screen
is designed that update the user from the order receiving, preparing, delivery time and received
status once the order reaches the user. Other requirements of the user are the need of registration
page and a page for viewing the discount offers on the food items. Registration screen is
designed with the required information for placing of the order such that every time the user
needs not to enter the payment details and address. Special deals screen is provided where the
user can view the exiting deals and combo packs of the food items.
Factor influencing the application design of Zaika Restaurant
The interface design of Zaika Restaurant s influenced by the user requirement which includes
providing proper information’s to the user, error preventions according to the user requirement
that will guide the user to the correct information that will indirectly help the restaurants in
gaining the user information’s at the later stage and lastly the naming conventions that are used
are easily understandable to the users keeping in considerations all the age groups of the users.
The business requirements of the restaurant also influenced the designing of the restaurant as it is
to be designed such that it attracts more user traffic to the application that will ultimately
increase the revenue of the restaurant. The interface mockups are generated that detect the

functional and nonfunctional requirements of the online restaurant business. Competitors of
Zaika in the market also an important factor influencing the designing of the application as the
applications to be designed such that it proves to be the best among its competitors so evaluation
of the designs of competitors before final design of the application is to be done. The designing
of the application is influenced by the Heuristic principle based on user usability so the designing
of all the screens is governed by the heuristic principle of interface design (Herasymenko, 2018).
Similar Interface Design
The interface design of Zaika Restaurant is influenced by the design of Dubai, Media City.
Dubai, Media City is an online food delivery application that is developed for providing multiple
thematic platforms to the users for increasing the sales of the restaurant and increase the
convenience of the users in the choice of the food items (Refer to figure 5). The designing
approach that is followed in the designing of Dubai, Media City application is the first analysis
of the market competitors for better direction towards the development of the application. In the
designing of Zaika Restaurant application also competitor is analyzed along with getting aides
from the interface design of Dubai, Media city application. Dubai, Media City is a very user
interactive food application with attractive images and color like orange is selected as this creates
an atmosphere of friendliness and warmth. The design of the Dubai, Media City is designed such
that it gives a natural feeling to their users. The visibility of the interface design of Zaika
restaurant is better in interaction zones of the application as the contrast background of the Zaika
Restaurant is light compared to Dubai, Media City which provide the users a better experience
in the readability of the application. The visual performance of the application is supported by
the tab bar and the photo content. A personal connection of users with the application is built as
the app gives an immediate response to the actions and both the applications are best user
responsive applications. The Dubai, Media City application also lacks the table booking screen
which is an extra feature in the design of Zaika Restaurant. The design principle of Dubai, Media
City, and Zaika Restaurant uses similar designing principles based on user usability (Fadeyev,
2009).
Conclusion
This is a reflection report of the interface design of Zaika Restaurant. The reflection includes the
designing approaches, challenges and design methodologies that are used during interface design
of Zaika Restaurant. The report provided that the design of the interface of Zaika Restaurant is
the best interface design according to the given case studies. This report described the important
factors that influenced the design of Zaika Restaurant that explained the user research, business
requirements, design principles, and competitor analysis. The report discussed the Heuristic
principles in which zaika restaurant application is designed and how it is implemented in the
designs. The reflection report is concluded with an example of a similar application that is used
as a reference during the designing of Zaika Restaurant application highlighting the positive and
negative aspects of Zaikla Restaurant in comparison to Dubai, Media City.
