Task 4
How will you comply with Equality and Diversity law when selecting applicants?
In the words of Lavery (2010), the zero hour contracts enable the worker to not provide any of
the minimum working hours, while the employers also have the right to reject any of the work
when offered to them. The equality act of 2010 provides a clear protection to all of the workers
irrespective to their caste, creed and religion. The act assures that the employers do not exploit
any one on the basis of the factors like age, marriage, gender, religion and maternity. The
compensation level should also never be decided based on these, the payment should be made
equally, and there will be no disruptive deductions (Act, 2010).
The diversity in the workplace includes a number of aspects that are not mentioned legally in the
employment. The Equality and the Diversity law assures that all of the individuals even when
they are working in Zero hour are subjected to equal promotional rights and they are free from
prejudice and discrimination of all kinds.
What rights will your new employees have?
The organization is planning to hire two members of the staff as the zero hour staff. However,
before opting for these, it is needless to consider the different rights these new employees will
have while working as zero hour employees. The different rights that these individuals will be
subjected to include
There will be no fixed working hours for the employees working under Zero Hour Contracts.
There will also be no minimum working hours for the employees.
There will be no discrimination on the basis of caste, creed religion and skin color.
The payments will be made based on the quality of work and there will be no disruptive
deductions.
The employee will be subjected to the least minimum wages, paid annual leave and of course
rest breaks
None of the employees will be released from their responsibilities on unexplainable and
indefinite grounds.
