IntroductionHealth and safety in the work place is necessary to be maintained as it is reasonably practicable for safety and welfare for its employees. Policies and regulations are provided by government to maintain safety and health of workplace. Various policies, legislation and procedures are necessary to be followed by every business organisation to provide safety and security to its employees. There are various systems who provides services of health and social care. Care Home is abbreviation for Care Home and it is funded system which aims at providing free healthcare facilitates to people of UK. Care Home is funded by tax and provides services to needy people. This unit covers and explains about various procedures and policies of health and safety which are implemented in different health care settings and its importance. . This unit explains about dilemmas encountered while implementing policies of health and safety and it also explains how safety and health practices are monitored. Effects of non-compliance of these procedures are explained further. Responsibilities of management in Care Home for managing health and safety in relation to organisational structures are explained further in the report unit. LO11.1 Policies for communicating information on safety in the health and social careThere are various systems in health and social care settings who provides services related to safety. Different systems in health care are hospitals, care homes, GP centres, residential homes etc. GP centres aims at treating common medical conditions of people. GP centres also refer patients to other hospitals for further treatment and medical services and even for specialist and urgent treatments (Loeppke and et.al., 2015). GP centres focus on providing health treatments to person and combines psychological, physical and social aspects. Hospitals provides urgent and specialized treatments to people. It includes specialized medical and staff of nursing with all medical equipments available. Hospitals also have various range of departments such as surgery centre, emergency wards, accident case or even special units such as cardiology (Boyle, 2015).Different policies and legislation implemented in health and social care settings provides rights and responsibilities to employees and customers who are in relation with these various 1

settings. Safety legislation are enforced in health and social care settings as these practices aims at promoting dignity of care and these policies and procedures support in maintaining health and safety at work. Health and social care settings adopts to different health and safety measures so that they can provide safety to both its patient and as well as to employees. Different legislation for maintaining health and safety and how these policies inform health and safety at work place are discussed as below and their importance is also given:Health and safety at work act, 1974: this act aims at maintaining health, safety and security of employees at work place. Various statutory instruments has been developed for supporting implementation of this act, this instruments also provides interface with European legislation and regulations(Mills, 2016). Care Home aims at maintaining health and safety of its employees and follows procedures given by this act. It is important for maintaining safety of its employees so that employees work in safe workingenvironment. This act provides safety to employees by assessing risk and provides measures for controlling risks.Management of health and safety at work regulations, 1999: this act aims assessing risk regarding health and safety of people at workplace(Australia, 2016). Care Home follows regulations and procedures given by this act and aims at maintaining safety of its worker and employees. This act provides guidelines to assess risk factors available in work place and to act upon identified risks and aims at reducing those risks. These policies and procedures safeguards the rights of employees and allow them security and safety at work place.In order to communicate the information in well manner, it has been analysed thatthrough proper management of health and safety at work regulations, that provides guidelines inorder to access the risk factors at workplace. While on the other side, having enough knowledgeregarding the Health and safety Act employees can easily safe themselves. 1.2 responsibilities in Care Home for the direction of health and safetyDifferent policies and procedures of health and safety aims at maintaining safety and security to its employees and workers. These legislations provide duties and responsibilities to management of organisation or health care settings for following procedures and maintaining safety. Care Home also follows various policies and procedures to provide health and safety to its volunteers and employees (Loeppke and et.al., 2015). Care Home is an independent body 2

which provides services of free health care to UK citizens. Care Home gets its funding from government and taxes. Department of Health and Social Care(DHSC) provides strategic guidelines to Care Home and various other public health and social care. DHSC is supported by public bodies and 23 agencies. Social and Health Care Home provides various roles and responsibilities for maintaininghealth and safety at workplace for its employees. It is an independent body therefore dose nothave any specific level of management for handling its activities and operations. This bodies alsohelp a system in more expressive way such that they all are quite aware to make any changerelated to health and safety. Various local bodies handle activities of Care Home and its differentcentres. Local education and training boards of Care Home are responsible for providingworkforce planning and their training for lower level of management employees (Loeppke andet.al., 2015). Public Health England are provided with responsibilities to manage and leadintegrated services regarding health delivery services. These legislations provide duties andresponsibilities to management of organisation or health care settings for following procedures3Illustration 1: organisational structure of Care Home

and maintaining safety. Health education England provides training and development programsfor employees and also safeguards health and safety of employees. Management of Health and safety:Management of Care Home follows variousprocedures provided and implemented by safety acts and safeguards rights of employees. Safetyat work place can be maintained by following various provision and procedures such as safepassageways, adequate lightning and heating, proper and safe equipments. Care Home aims atmaintaining safe and suitable work equipments and instruct about proper use of it. It alsoprovides guidelines regarding use of machinery and their dangerous parts (Sullivan, 2018).Various health and safety regulations and legislations ensures total safety of its employee at workplace and therefore provides respective responsibilities to management regarding maintenancesafety. The management of the health and safety also help the people to ensure that co-operations and co- ordination between employers will lead to provide the best output to them.Care Home also ensures assessment of risk in work place and find ways to eliminate it, if any. Italso provides accurate and important information regarding health and safety so that everyemployees maintains safe working environment. 1.3 Analysing the health and safety priorities appropriate for a specific health and social careworkplace.Workplace should have always been hygienic and proper well maintained. Workplacewhich consist poor safety and health and safety plan of action attend to give negative scenriogives negative effects on the overall individual level that also effect the community at large level.In order to meet out the best forming and better objective result (Loeppke and et.al., 2015). In ahealth and social care apart from that, it also helps to discover the new managing effectivemanagement tool and techniques. Health &workplace work workplaces effects of sickness and illhealth have been establishing & they range from small. Effective illness and injury beenestablishing. It also helps to take the new managing business growth and best productive goals, italso helps to discover the long range of developing leading and effective management. Healthand effective management styles helps to ensure the employee safety which is productive for thebetter developing task. These not alone workplace these are the homes as well. For that, propermaintenance should be there. In order to that, health care homes and institution must need toadopt pleasant working and safe environment for employees by applying the all legal obligationsand act (Mills, 2016). Overall, it helps to keep the long term goals and best target market growth4
