Analysis of Policy and Practice Documents
Domestic violence nature and extent remains shocking not only in Australia but the
world in general. The core and fundamental mission of policing is to prevent disorder and
crime. Tackling domestic abuse is very important however sensitive and complex an issue is.
The police need to have the right tools and resources, partnerships and training in place to
enable them do their work well. It is important that the officers carry out effectively their
policing activities to protect the victims, prevent crime and bring the perpetrators of the crime
to justice (Andersen, and Papazoglou, 2015). Theere are four policy documents in mental
health and well-being of police
1. The gray zone of police work during mental health encounters: Chicago Police
Department (CPD).
2. Well-being of frontline police officers in ADF and UK metropolice
3. Challenging and shaping mental health expert in police department
4. Proper understanding of violence and work related stress and PTSD.
So much has changed in Australia since the inception of police forces and their
response to domestic violence more than 20 years ago. It is acknowledged by the police and
other agencies that the well-being and health of their officers is good since this ensures that
the productivity levels are positive. The practices and policies of the organizations outline
issues and their plan to deal with them (Alang, McAlpine, McCreedy, and Hardeman, 2017).
Programs and practices that outlines the implementation planned for these policies and
provides applications that are practical to real life situations. There are distinct differences in
practices and policies of different police departments example the Australian Defense Force
is different in policies form the Chicago police department and the UK metropolitan police
service.

Police improved Response to Domestic Violence
One of the main strategies for police is reaction to domestic violence is improved
response to an emergency call. Police departments have decrease the response time to any
emergency call for domestic violence. In CPD, the response time after an emergency 911 is
called takes about 3 minutes. The ADF has also reduced the response time to emergency call.
Of all human instincts, the most powerful is the desire for power(Bergman, Christopher, and
Bowen, 2016). That is why home despots have no race, gender, age, or profession. A tyrant
can abuse drugs or alcohol, and can monitor health, play sports, lead an active social and
social life. When the fact of domestic violence is revealed, friends and colleagues of the
aggressor usually say that they would never have thought of such a person. The victim of a
home tyrant becomes one who is physically and morally weaker, who is vulnerable. As a
rule, these are children, wives and old people - cases of violence of adult children over
elderly relatives are quite common(Henderson, et al,2016).
The public’s attitude towards the victims of domestic violence, in my opinion, is
frightening: “the victim is to blame herself - she had to get up and leave”, “she had not to
marry a tyrant, not give birth to children from him, I had to behave well, do not be rude ”, etc.
The first question a victim of domestic violence is asked is. The step of "increasing tension"
is characterized by a certain plan on the part of the tyrant and preparation on the part of the
victim: she senses an imminent threat, visualizes the picture of the attack, ponders the
response, is nervous. Then comes an outbreak of cruelty. The ADF adopted on first reading a
bill that excludes punishment for beating in the family from the Criminal Code if they are
committed less than two times in six months. Thus, domestic violence can become an
administrative violation. The offender escapes with fines, community service or 15 days in
custody. The problem of domestic violence is a taboo topic for many, and victims often
