Task 1
1. Characteristics of any project
There are 6 main features that are to be considered. The same includes the project having a
proper definable purpose of the project. Proper defining of the estimated end result is also
considered as important. Again uniqueness of the project is to be maintained (Kerzner 2017).
The project must be constructed in a manner that reconstruction can be performed. Another
characteristic that is to be considered is the project must cut across organizational lines. Few
unfamiliarity is needed to be included that will differentiate the project from the others.
2. 5 key stages of project management
The 5 stages that are to be included in performing project management are as follows: -
Project Initiation
Project Initiation will be including the process of starting of the project, which will
include proper definition of the scope and goals of the project.
Project planning
Project planning is one of the most important stage that is to be performed. Usage of
SMART goals techniques, CLEAR goals are used for performing the project planning section.
Scope management is also done in this section. Usage of Work Breakdown Structure is also
performed in the project planning stage. Gantt Chart is also used (Meredith, Mantel Jr and Shafer
2017).

Project Execution
Developing team, assigning resources, executing project plans and updating project
schedule is performed. These are the activities that are performed in this phase.
Project Performance and Monitoring
In this phase the project is highly monitored and governed. This section ensures that the
execution phase is performed in a desired manner (Schwalbe 2015).
Project Closure
Holding of meeting of all the stakeholder and identifying project failure causes and risks
that might arise will be considered.
3. Purpose of Project Initiation Document. 3 objects that could be found in PID. 300
Clarity of the project goals are important for better execution of the undertaken project.
In case proper clarity is not maintained the main issue that is faced is that development of
unrealistic expectation might occur. Hence for mitigating the same, incorporation of the project
initiation article is required (Heagney 2016). With the incorporation of the Project Initiation
Document, the key feature that is considered is that PID helps in better defining the project scope
and goal. Justification regarding selection of the project is also provided. With provisioning of
proper justification, gaining funds gets easier. Hence gaining the funds also gets affected in an
efficient manner (Harrison and Lock 2017). With the help of proper development of PID, the
roles and responsibilities that are to be performed by the stakeholders are well established. This
includes the fact that tasks will be completed in an efficient manner. Hence wise dependency on

the stakeholders can be created. Proper data regarding the productivity and steps that are taken
for proper assessment of the project is performed. Again synopsis of the activities that are to be
performed will be stated in the PID.
The three major documents that are found in PID are as follows: -
 Project Goals: Project goal is one of the most important document that is present in PID.
This document helps in aligning the functional process with the desired result
(Marchewka 2016). Even project planning is also performed with the help of the
understanding of the project goal understanding.
 Stakeholders: The stakeholders section consists of the people who are directly and
indirectly linked to the functioning of the project. This leads to the fact that better
allotment of tasks can be performed. With proper allotment of task, the main aspect that
is considered is that the task will get performed in a proper manner (Turner 2016).
 Risks: Understanding risks will ensure that the task that will lead to arising of risks will
be determined and hence wise the tasks can be avoided or replaced with other tasks.

Project Risk management: In this phase the main concern that is included is that risks will
be traced and hence wise proper assessment of the risks can be made. This ensures that risks that
might arise will be mitigated.
Project Quality management: Project Quality Management includes the fact that the
products that are manufactured have proper quality (Verzuh 2015). This ensures that achieving
the goal of pleasing the client and hence wise retaining them and acquiring new clients can per
performed.
5. 5 attributes of project manager and explanation of either 2.
The major 5 attributes of a project manager are as follows: -
 Proper communication skill
 Strong leadership skill
 Efficient decision maker
 Technically sound
 Have a proper team development skill
The 2 skills that needs proper discussion are having the quality to develop a proper team
and project manager needs to have proper communication skill.
