1. The health workers, including the medical professionals and nurses should deliver care to the
patients without any discrimination by considering people’s culture, ethnicity, desires,
expectations, family situations, social circumstances, values and beliefs and provide a holistic
approach to care. Providing a person centered care helps people receive the care they in need
help people to assist themselves with care. Providing a person centered care approach not only
improves the quality of the care and services available to be delivered, but also, reduces pressure
on both the social and health services. Person centered care is characterized by respecting their
views, values and preferences and putting at the top or center of care, ensuring people safety and
making sure that they are physically comfortable (Starfield, 2019). To promote person centred
care, health professionals must effectively communicate and build a professional relationship
with the patients aligning with the nursing standards and understand their beliefs, preferences,
values and their concerns and address them by communicating effectively and deliver care by
recognising the needs of the patients.
2. Providing person centered care not only improves overall health outcome of the patients but
also enhances patient’s satisfaction. Person centered care is more than just providing people with
their necessary requirements in a medical point of view, it is also about considering various
attributes like people’s values, beliefs, culture and preferences while delivering care (Starfield,
2019). To provide an effective person centered care, the nurse and heath care professionals must
treat the patients with dignity and respect their decisions. It is evident from several research
studies that person centered care has a major impact on the quality of care to be delivered as it
improves the people’s experience on receiving care and increases satisfaction, encourage and
motivate people through proper education on the importance of healthy lifestyle and the ways to
