analyses critical challenges facing the tourism industry in Hong Kong and the approach towards
the amendments.
Background
In June 2019, an extradition bill was proposed in Hong Kong whereby, many were against the
bill and protested against it. Due to the misunderstandings, the tourist attraction of the city was
affected and it reduced the productivity of the industry. Indeed, the numbers of the protestors
increased thus turned to civil insubordination and revolutionary actions including distracting
airport operations, public transport and causing extensive strikes. Consequently due to the
mushrooming violence, the international media houses re- announced Hong Kong as a hazardous
city and thus visitors from other countries ought to be cautious and seek travel advisories. In
addition, Hong Kong was also stated as the dangerous city and thus not safe for visits.
