Mental Health Nursing
According to research, it is estimated that a single person out of four is vulnerable to a
mental disorder at one particular time in life. The various measures that need to be put in place
when it comes to preventing mental illness includes applying the universal prevention which
involves targeting the whole population and this is major because the entire community is in a
position to be affected by the mental illness in one way or another hence there is need to reach
out to the whole population (Videbeck, 2015). Moreover, the other prevention measure is the
selective prevention which involves targeting specific people within the people who may be at
risk of developing the mental illness, and their chances are higher compared to the entire
population.
Applying the indicative prevention method is set to aim at the individuals who are at a
higher risk of getting a mental disorder. A treatment-related strategy can be kept in place to
ensure that the individuals who are developing mental illness are exposed to medication as early
as possible to minimize complications. The various methods employed in promoting mental
health include the mental health interventions in workplaces, and this includes embracing
multiple programs that are meant to manage stress. There is a need to come up with various
violence prevention programs together with the numerous programs that are aimed at vulnerable
groups or individuals (Varcarolis, 2016).
