Over the years, leadership has been studied in different ways. Some leaders used it in their

According to Jackson and Parry (2011), as time passes the meaning of leadership theories changes.
In 1940-1950, it was though that leaders are only for decision making and employees should do
their work. In contrast, of leadership theory as per Komives and Wagner (2011) leaders are
supportive element of organisation. They time to time give their better suggestion to company and
raise their image in competitive environment. Leadership theories are basically for better
understanding between employees and head department. Hence, behaviour theory is one of the best
leadership theories for better understanding of organisation. The reason behind this is that human
behaviour is changing every day or minute so sometimes it creates some misunderstanding at
workplace. For better understanding it is important for leader to know their employees very well.

behaviour approach. In this, manager first observed the nature of employees and gave them work
according to their behaviour. In current time, this theory has emerged frequently and all
organisations have adopted it for their better development. The main concept behind using this

environment. So according to their reviews leaders can easily defin the changing behaviour of
employees toward the company.
Behaviour leadership theory
This theory was developed in 1950 and the main reason to use this theory was to reduce the
disadvantage of trait theory. The contradictory nature of trait theory pressurised leader to find out
the changing behaviour of employees. So for better understanding, they used this theory at their
workplace. According to Odumeru and Ogbonna (2013) X and Y motivation and Herzberg theories
are based on leader assumption about human nature and their behaviour. In the contract as per
Derue, ahrgang and Humphrey (2011) in X and Y motivational theory X plays a mangers' role who
do not involved their employees in decision making process so by this they feel de motivated and
cannot give their best performance at workplace. On other hand Y manager or leader believe that
company development is not only based on mangers and head department. Further, employees plays
an important roles so it is necessary to take their views and suggestion while taking any decision.
Hence, this theory shows that x factors represent dominating nature toward employees and Y factor
represent supporting and participative nature (Chin, 2010). So when organisation use autocratic
leadership style at their workplace so employees feel hesitated to share their problems to head
department. This thing put negative impact on their performance and they do not give their 100% to
organisation. So by this, company also suffer. In other hand, if organisation use participate
leadership so employees feel friendly, comfortable and they can easily do their work and the reason
behind this is there are no pressure in their mind.

Second behaviour theory is based on Blake and mouton's Managerial Grid. This behaviour
theory is based on how leaders are concerned about their employees and staff members. Further, the
leaders are also concerned about their company reputation and production. So for better efficiency,
leader takes feedback from their employees from time to time which are based on working
condition (What is Blake Mouton’s Managerial Grid?, 2012). They try their best to fulfil the basic
need of employees so they can easily perform well at workplace and leader can change their current
business position. As per this model, its horizontal axis show their concern for people and it vertical
axis show their concern for production. By analysing this model, it has been concluded that the
most important aspect of behaviour theory is based on collaborative approach and the support which
is coming from team.
Moreover, nowadays most of the companies used this leader behaviour description
questionnaire (LBDQ). In this leader provided a form to all their employees. In this, employees do
not fill their name on question paper, so by this, leader can easily determine their positive and
negative points and then change it. Further, there is some behaviour elements which are used by

behavioural leadership method guides the management of corporation to take appropriate decisions

Advantages of Behaviour Leadership theory to support the leadership approach
Behaviour theory of leadership promote the value and positive points of leadership styles.
This theory changes the perception of other people that, leaders are not only for taking decision but
time to time they motivate their employee or guide them in their work. According to Morrison
(2012) This theory is based on behaviour principle. It means that, if organisation provides a good
environment to their employees so they can easily do their work otherwise they lack their
efficiency. Further, by applying behaviour leadership theory at organisation, managers build the
trust power among all employees and also build team spirit power. It also helps head department to
evaluate the nature and behaviour of employees toward their work. Further, with the help of this,
team leader evalute the right balance between different styles of leadership and also help them, to
know which is better for their internal environment. Moreover, there are two main strength of this
theory which are as follows:
Leadership behaviour support the idea of leadership. The reason behind this is managers
have so many work so they do. So they do not have lots of time to guide their all employees
and solve their problem. So by appointing one team leader among 15-20 people is
beneficiary thing for company. First it raises the knowledge of employees and also leader
can easily motivate and guide them in their work.
Second benefit of this theory is, by LBDQ team leader can easily evaluate their positive and
negative points. So by this, they change their negative points into positive.
Moreover, there are some benefits of leadership behaviour theory which are explains as
follows:
Increase self belief- As per social publisher of social foundation Van Wart (2014) this theory
raise the self confidence and self belief. The reason behind this is, when people apply this theory
they can easily know their positive points so they can do work on it and raise their capability.
Further, as per Odumeru and Ogbonna (2013) in the organisation managers can easily evaluate the
behaviour of their employees so they can arrange their working seat or place according to their
nature.
Changing behaviour- Behaviour theories are usually used to motivate people. For example,
by evaluating all factors and aspects at the workplace. Moreover, According to Pinnington
