With emphasis on the change resistance and leadership people are moved by
emotions and feelings that ́s why they resist to changes, but most of the time in
organizations employees tend to resist because of the type of leadership. I agree with
Mayfield (2014, p.72) when stated: “employees need to be led by people who are not
afraid to reveal their more sensitive human side, trustworthy and loyal”. One thing
that most leaders forget is the fact that leadership is a process of influencing each
other (leaders and employees).
Explain a situation where changes were needed but the majority of the organization
resisted to it. If so, how did the organization turn the situation around?
One of the most important task of the management or the manager of
the company is to facilitate the employee with the changes in the work
place. The management of the company thus should be able to facilitate the
employee so that the changes are initiated smoothly in the organization.
Thus change management can be collectively termed as the approach which
includes various types of process which includes evaluation, prepare, support
and as well as help the team members in making the organization changes.
The most common changes which has been observed till date among the
diverse organization are the changes related with technological evaluation,
process review, crisis and consumer habit changes, increase in the pressure
from the new business entrances in the market , acquisition , merger as well
as organization restructuring. Regarding the organization which had to
initiate a change in the workforce is Samson media. The company previously
used to have the business of delivering the printed magazine to public, but in
the present date it was running under loss therefore decided to change
management in its operations. The company decided to shift completely to
electronic form of magazine or the e-magazines. For this change the
company had to shift the employee from hand press to electronic media. The
company decided to remove few of the working department and established
a new technological department which had saved huge amount of cost for
the company. The company employed few new employees and rest the old
aged employee were sacked out. But however the leaders of the
organization had a full planning process for initiating the change which had
worked out very smoothly. Few of the steps which were taken by the
company in order to initiate the changes were as follows. The company first
had created a vision that why the change was initiated , the importance
behind the changes as well as the outcome of the changes that were ready
to be initiated. Next the company had created a team with few leaders who
were helping out the other employees in order to resist the changes

required. With this th3 company effectively communicated the process and
vision for the change in the organization. Next step was removing the
obstacles in the course plan such as the old employee who was creating a
barrier to the change process initiated. With the implementation of these few
steps Samson Media had successfully transformed its business operations
from traditional way of delivering magazines to the latest form of electrical
magazines.

If it is stated that "...while change agents within
organisations need to strive for improvement and propose
changes to achieve this, a cost-benefit analysis should
always be undertaken to ensure that the reasons for the
change are justified, and aligned with the objectives of the
organisation."
How would you propose using a cost-benefit analysis as a
strategy for your change initiative in the module project?
How would you communicate the results to stakeholders
you identified? What is the role of the change agent and
why? In addition, after the implementation of the
change...how would the success of the change be
measured to support the favorable results of the
cost/benefits analysis?
Cost benefits analysis will be proposed as because it will help the
business organization to draw upon the change management as soon as
possible. The cost benefit analysis will determine the return on investment
for the company as well as it will help the company to have higher utilization
and higher proficiency for the future. In order to communicate the plan to the
stakeholders of the company, there will be a meeting initiated for the change
process. In the meeting with the stakeholders the leaders as well as the head
of the department of the companies will be initiating the step process to
proceed further. Regarding the change agent the main role or activity of the
change agent is to find ways in helping the people with the changes and
procedures that will be carefully carried out. The change agent in the
organization is known for carrying out the change and thus plan it in an
efficient way so that it can be performed easily. As the facilitator for change
the person will have to design a system, form planning, and various
processes which will in a way help the employee to achieve success as they

go through the change process. In order to track down the success of
changes the person who is acting as a supervisor will have to track the
actions according to the plan, which will include training test and
effectiveness measures, communicating the delivery as well as maintaining a
check list for performance improvement.

If stated that communication “...is a relevant and basic
need that can help overcome resistance, which occurs
when there is a lack of understanding and people are
pushed out of their comfort zone. What we know is
resistance will occur - how it’s managed and recognized by
leaders is key.” Taking the discussion further and based
on your understanding of different communication
mediums and step 4 of Kotter’s change management
process...can you share an example of a change that you
are familiar with from a real world perspective?
What strategies were used in your example to
communicate the vision for change? How effective was
the communication strategy in creating a felt need for the
change and how effective was the communication strategy
in reducing resistance to the change? Conversely, if a
communication strategy was not used...how might the use
of one have impacted the success of the change and have
reduced resistance to the change you described?
Strategies which were used in the example provided to initiate
changes were authentication of the vision, use of multi channel system of
communication such as tele letter, intranet, company wide meeting, and
casual conversation. The strategies which were used in the change
management for the company Samson media was very much effective as
because very less amount of employees were directly removed as because
they were not listening to the change plan. Huge amount of employees were
