INTRODUCTION
This paper provides an assessment of two mission statements of Vodafone Company and Toyota
Manufacturing Company as well as their manufacturing strategies related to either successes or
the issues from the case studies. The large manufacturing company under assessment in the
paper is the Toyota Group and the service company under assessment in this research is the
Vodafone Company.
TOYOTA MANUFACTURING COMPANY
The mission statement of Toyota Motor Corporation guides the success trajectory of the
company by emphasizing on the comprehensive approach that considers customer needs and
innovation. Toyota Manufacturing Company uses a different mission statement for its business
in different markets. The mission statement of Toyota is "To attract and attain customers with
high-valued products and services and the most satisfying ownership experience globally
(Yusoof, et al., 2016). The three primary strategies implemented by Toyota for increasing
competitive advantage for the company include benefits, target market, and competition
strategies.
Benefit
The benefit of the product is important to the customers and there is a need for ensuring that the
technology of up to date on the new trends that affect the product. Toyota manufacturing
company is very serious in terms of market influence through its innovative automobile designs
(Simão & Lisboa, 2017). Toyota reveals that the company is all about overcoming challenges
to ensure success.
Target Market
The market demand is created by understanding the customers, their needs, their tastes, and
improvement on the taste. This growth strategy supports the growth by attracting and reaching

more customers in the current market of the company. In this intensive strategy, Toyota develops
by entering new markets or selling to the new segments of the market (Bromsen, 2019). This
is done by the company by leveraging the performance and aesthetic requirements of the client.
Competition
This strategy ensures supports the growth of the company by attracting and reaching more
customers than its competitors. The company has continued to dominate the market for many
years explaining why it is been emulated by other competitors through using innovative products
that are attractive on the basis of advanced features or uniqueness.
VODAFONE
Vodafone is currently the leading telecom brand globally and has maintained a strong presence
in the European and Asian markets. This service company has made some major changes to its
marketing and business strategies due to the growing competition in the telecom industry. The
mission statement of Vodafone is “To be the communications leader in a progressively
connected world”. The mission statement of Vodafone stresses on the ambitions of Vodafone to
become the responsible and leading player in the telecom industry and to serve the community
and society with its technological resources (Narendhra, 2011). The three primary strategies
implemented by Vodafone for establishing a competitive advantage for the company include
benefits, target market, and competition strategies.
Benefit
To create a competitive advantage, the company must understand the advantages of the product,
its features, new trends, and its benefits to the customer. Mobile technology is promoting the
quality of life and livelihoods of people globally. The company is exploring commercial
opportunities where the services and products can result in further benefits to the society through
