INTRODUCTION
Literature review is an important part of research which is based on current knowledge
including findings, methodological and theoretical contributes towards the particular topic.
Mainly, it is considered as secondary sources through which investigator can easily gather
relevant data and information. Along with this, it consist of different authors views and opinion
about particular framework (Austermuhl, 2014). This will provide support to investigator at the
time of evaluating research activities. It includes various sources by which researcher gather
relevant data and information such as books, journals, articles, magazines and many more. With
the use of these, investigator can easily take right and reliable information.
In addition of this, quality management is vital part of every business organization to
ensure that products and services are consistent in company. It is considered as a vital process
which help business organization to implement all the activities with the purpose of maintaining
overall performance of the company at marketplace. It includes various activities such as quality
policy, quality control, improvement, assurance and many more. All these directly contribute in
enhancing productivity level of the company and at the same time also increase the market share
as well. Thus, it is important for business organization to ensure product quality with the purpose
of attaining customers satisfaction. This will directly contribute in attaining competitive
advantage from its rivals. By maintaining quality of products, company can easily invite large
number of customers and at the same time also enhance their profitability level as well
(Fernandez-Feijoo, B., Romero, S. and Ruiz, S., 2014). The main purpose of this report is to
evaluate the quality management for increasing productivity level of the company at market
place.

Concept of quality management
According to Reason, (2016); Quality means things which are superior in nature and
manufactured with a purpose of satisfying customer's needs and wants. Hence, quality is termed
as a quality of excellence. In context with businesses, there are various aspects that company
must keep in mind in order to provide excellent quality goods and services. Quality management
is considered as an act that oversees entire activities which are required to be maintain for

desired level of excellence. Thus, it is acquired by an organisation so as to gain long term
benefits by providing customers with satisfied products (Lund-Thomsen and Lindgreen, 2014).
Henceforth, for getting a quality work, it is crucial that company have better machines
and skilled employees with the help of which a better quality service can be provided to its
customers. Therefore, here are some principles of quality management through which company
can give effective services and these are mentioned below:
Customer focussed: Consumers are important for business organization and they are the
one who are determines the level of quality, no matter what efforts company is implementing for
providing best quality products. For example: Morrison is using latest tools and technologies for
manufacturing goods and products but raw materials which they are using are of poor quality
therefore here even brand name will not work if quality of the products are not appropriate. Thus,
it is crucial for company to consider needs and wants of consumers in order to gain maximum
benefits (Monczka, R. M. and et. al., 2015).
Total employee involvement: This is also an important component as employees are the
ones who perform the task and work for a common goal. As Morrison is providing high-
performance work system therefore, workers are giving their best in providing superior quality
services. As a result, company is improving in front of customer's perception and becoming one
of leading firms in retail sector in United Kingdom.
Use of Integrated system: In an organisation there are many activities which are
performed by various departments. Therefore, in order to make goods that are of best quality
company implement latest tools and technologies. For example: Morrisons has incorporated ISO
9000 standards and it is assisting them in checking the quality of the products they are providing
to its customers.
Better communication process: Many times effective communication plays a crucial role
while performing a task in a better manner and along with this, it assist managers in maintaining
and boosting morale of employees so that they can perform their activities in a better manner
(Susilawati, A. and et. al., 2015).
Therefore, in relation with Morrisons they are using communication process for
communicating elements and process through which quality products can be developed.
Main components of quality management in business organization

As per the point of view Pampanelli, Found and Bernardes, (2014); for running and
managing a small business, it is required that company makes changes on a regular basis. But
along with this, it is crucial that firm manages quality of the commodity and services as well.
Hence, there are four basic components which company must consider and these are explained
below:
Quality planning: It is a very important component for an organisation and company.
Under this, company make proper planning for developing products which are required to be
made in order to meet customer's expectations (Dubey, Gunasekaran and Ali, 2015). Quality
planning majorly includes who the consumers are, considering what are their needs and what
kind of tools and technologies can be used so as to fulfil needs of customers. Therefore,
Morrisons should make appropriate planning before providing any products to its customers.
Quality assurance: Quality assurance make sure and provide enough confidence to
companies about the goods and services firm are providing are of excellent quality. Thus, it is
important for company to determine requirements for improvement in products with the aim of
improve the overall quality of the products and services. Therefore, with the help of systematic
measurement and through monitoring the whole process, errors are prevented so that best quality
services can be given to its clients (Components of Quality Control Management. 2018).
Quality control: Under this, all the factors that are included in production are reviewed
just to check whether means for fulfilling needed quality are proper or not. Henceforth, through
this method company confirms about the goods that are being made by them will assist firm in
fulfilling organisational goals and objectives.
Quality improvement: It is consider as an important components which relate with the
product quality. With the help of this company can easily improve products and its quality as
well. For example: if a light bulb is not emitting enough power than by looking its efficiency
and flexibility company will try to improve their quality (Qrunfleh and Tarafdar, 2014).
Therefore, Morrison while producing or providing any kind of goods and services
determine that it should be superior in quality so that needs and wants of customers can be
fulfilled. In addition to this,in their organisation they have a separate departments for quality
purpose.

tools which are available for improving the quality of a products and services provided.
Therefore, some of the tools are mentioned below:
Total Quality Management: It is determined as a integrated system which is used for
planning and controlling the entire process of business operations (Mir and Pinnington, 2014). It
assist firm in providing services through which customer's needs and wants can be met according
to their expectations. Total Quality Management basically depends upon business and its
behaviour and embraces certain principles like employee involvement, focussing on consumer's
choices and preferences etc., TQM was originally developed in the year around 1950's that helps
company in reducing its cost price by giving more emphasis on quality.
Six Sigma Theory: It is a methodology which is based on Total Quality Management for
attaining low defect rates. Main purpose of this model is to meet customer's requirements,
improvement in customer's retention and also improving and sustaining services and products
provided by the company (Brandenburg and et. al., 2014). Concept of Six Sigma depends upon
five steps i.e. Define: in this company tend to find out the demands and requirements of
customers so that project goals and objectives can be met. Measure: it is determine as the key
component of current process and firm gathers information in order to know process capability.
Analyse: In this, data which are to be investigated are verify so that desired products can be
achieved. Improve: For instance a product is developed and it need an improvement so make
the product best in quality. Therefore, this process assist company in doing the same. Control: It
is determine as the last step and in this company try to have a control over process if it is
deviated so that default products can be eliminated. Therefore, under this, continuous monitoring
of process is being done.
EFQM Excellence Model: This model was developed with the aim of assess
performance with the help of existing tools which are available with them. Key feature of this
model is that it assist firm in grade themselves in against nine criteria and these criteria focus on
cause and effect relationship (Lee and et. al., 2015).
Therefore, Morrisons have incorporated these quality management tools in order to get
high quality outputs. As a result, it leads to providing greater customer satisfaction by giving
high quality goods and services.

CONCLUSION
From the above mentioned literature review, it has been concluded that, quality
management is one of the important aspect for business organization to increase their
profitability level at market place. Thus, it is important for business organization to maintain
product quality by preparing an effective planning and assurance to improve their overall
performance level at market place. For rising the quality management, company needs to
improve their ways and strategies on a continuous basis. This will help in attaining the chances
of positive results. . It help in increasing the productivity level of the company at market place
and at the same time also capture customers attention toward its products and services as well.
For attaining the same, some tools are also used various quality tools such as Six sigma, Just in
time and many more to improve the quality of the products. With the help of this, firm can easily
build positive brand image in market and establish their competitive position as well. In addition
of this, various components of quality management are also mentioned such as quality planning,
quality assurance, quality control and quality improvements. All these are vital for managing
entire process of maintaining quality of the products to improve their overall performance level.

For this, it is important for company to maintain their product quality. With the help of this,
company can easily offer quality products to its customers as per their needs and wants.
Management of quality is considered as an important role in every business organization to make
quality products. Along with this various activities are also perform their role in improving the
quality of the products. As it contribute in producing quality products for customers with the aim
of attaining success in market place. In organizational context, Morrisons is largest chain of
supermarket in UK. Company serve various products such as food, drink, books, magazines and
many more to large number of customers with the purpose of attaining success in marketplace.
As quality management is one of the important aspect for business to invite large number
of customers. This is the main reason behind selecting this research topic. With the use of this,

company improve their customers base. Number of customers are influenced by company
products and its quality as well. In addition of this, Morrison's is famous supermarket and serve
quality products to its customers with the aim of enhancing their productivity level at market
place. Apart from this, the main purpose of quality management is to ensure the product quality
which directly contribute in enhancing brand image of the company and at the same time also
capture customers attention towards its products and services as well. This research is based on
the quality management in increasing productivity level of the company at market place.
Research objectives
It is one of the important section for carry out the research activities. In this, various
objectives are developed by the investigator with the purpose of attaining positive outcomes.
Mainly, it is related with the research topic through which investigator can easily gather relevant
