Waldorf University Art Gallery: Sculpture Theme and Artworks

This assignment focuses on the art of sculpture, a significant art form with a rich history and diverse techniques. The student has chosen sculpture as the theme for their art gallery project, selecting five artworks for analysis. The assignment explores different types of sculptures, including freestanding sculptures, relief sculptures, and those created through additive processes. The student highlights specific artworks, providing details such as the artist, year of creation, and a brief description of each piece. The selected artworks include pieces by Martin Puryear, a sculpture from the Angkor Wat temple, a relief sculpture from the Maya classic period, a modeling type sculpture by Robert Lango, and a Greek silver coin featuring Apollo. SCULPTURE
• The type of art that has been chosen in this paper is the
sculpture. This is one of the most significant art forms
in the world.
• Various famous sculptors have worked across it. There
are various types of sculptures that can be found in this
scenario.
• Some of these are freestanding sculpture, relief
sculpture, additive process, low and high relief.
• All these various types of cultures are indeed
significant to note the development of this art.

REASON FOR CHOOSING THE
THEME
• This theme has interested me a lot since I am a
student of art form and I had to go through the
various chapters of this book to choose which one
I would follow.
• After going through most of the chapters I have
found several innovative features and techniques
in these sculptures.
• Relief sculpture and additive process are the two
most significant sculpture types that I have found.
