INTRODUCTION
Personal and professional development refers to the increasing of skills and knowledge
for career growth and personal development (Personal Development, 2018). It covers entire
kinds of possible learning chances, informal learning and meeting opportunities situated in
practices (Borich, 2016). Managing our working and learning on developing ourselves
professionally and personally by enhancing or creating our competencies and skills in order to
deal with the situation in the marketplace is known self-managed learning. This report is based
on Academic and research skills which includes different tasks identifying personal skills,
academic skills, SMART Objectives. Academic research projects and not taking quality is also
important for the personal growth.
TASK 1
(a) Personal SWOT Analysis
There are different skills which are take by me including personal, academic and English
language quality. All theses are important and beneficial for me to deals with customers in an
easy manner. My personal skills is leadership & management which help me to control all
activities and functions of marketing (Calhoun, 2014). Another is academic skills which include
presentation quality, it support me to present entire information about products and services of
business. My academic English language skill is listening or speaking which assist to
communicate with customers and employees in easy manner. I want to prepare my personal audit
which help me to identify my strengths, weakness, threats and opportunities. All these are
important so in this my SWOT analysis is explained as below:

not poor because in which I am not able to do

Threats Opportunities

innovation skills which help me to deal all
clients in an effective and efficient manner.
Another is to increase my communication
power which benefited me to develop my

There are different opportunities for me is to

It is important and beneficial in this I am set my personal, academic and many other skills
which support to increase my personal and professional plan. SMART Objective is based on my
communication skills which is identify as below:
Specific: Communication skill is specific for me to deal with clients in an easy and
attractive manner.
Measurable: Yes, it is measurable to improve my skills in specified time period. Thus, it
support me to accomplish my personal and professional growth.
Achievable: Communication skills is good for me to achieve all targets and objectives in
specified time period.
Realistic: Yes, communication ability is realistic in different situation to meeting with
clients and achieve long term goals and objectives.
Timed: In certain time period I will maximise of communication power by attending
conference and seminars.

(a) Note Taking
Note taking is other skills which assist to gather all information regarding improving my
skills and overcoming weakness appropriately (Castelli and et. al., 2014). In order to enhance my
communication, research and many other skills I can join different kind of conference, seminars
and meeting. All these are highly help me to develop my career growth opportunities. There are
various variety of sources which are using by me in order to improve my listening skills
including:
ï‚· Grab the attentions of my clients with interactive learning activities.
ï‚· Including summary at the last of each and every learning unit.
ï‚· I can link subject matter to previously knowledge.
ï‚· I can assess learners recently acquired knowledge.
ï‚· Provide learners time to reflect.
ï‚· Giving feedbacks.
ï‚· Teach them not to criticize and interrupt.ï‚· Respond appropriately.
Different variety of sources applying reading strategies: There are various sources of reading
strategies which is used by me in order to increase my skills and knowledge about specified
matter (Krueger, 2014). These are shown as below:

ï‚· Develop a vocabulary list
ï‚· Take breaks.ï‚· Recognise and reread hard parts of the text.

This will assist me to save my time and cost for accomplishing long term objectives and targets
in limited time duration. This tool provide new ides and tools about the specified topic which
support them to deals with conflict situation in an easy manner.
Summarised: In this all information are summarised in the form of necessary and relevant data.
Thus, it will help attract different clients on particular matter (McConville, 2017). It is a short
statement of entire information that provides only the core data. It is apart of skills and needs

different states of summarization including:
Applying perfect reading quality: In this different aspects are includes which are
beneficial for me to increase my note taking skills like facts and opinions, figures, tables,
supporting ideas and other.
Underline or note-down main idea: It support me to gather and resupply main idea while
writing summary. It needs perfect analytical and selection skills.
Check for appropriation: After gathering i.e., noting down summary writer, main points
directed in order to check for rightness of ideas or plans to be make in the summary.
Prepare the first draft: It is another stage of summary is the designing of primary stage.
In this I will try to design simple, short sentences, self-development and club points in order to
create logical link (Miller, 2014).
Tailor and limit summary: Under this phase it is suggested to see for logical
arrangements and finished package.
All these information are relevant for me in order to overcome my all weakness as well as
additionally improve my strengths. These are beneficial and effective for me to deals with
difficult situation easily. It is also support me to develop my career growth and development at
marketplace (Neuman, 2016). Different sources of improving listening skills and reading
strategies assist me to increase my personal growth and development in an accurate and
systematic manner. Thus, above all these information are valuable for me to improve my
productivity and effectiveness easily.

(a) Carry out an academic research project
Research project is important and beneficial part which help an individual or business to
determine basic needs and wants of the clients (Wilson, 2017). Further, it support me to
overcome my weakness by attending seminars and conference. Further is assist me in providing
different opportunities including; taking meeting with boss, attending seminars and conference,
receiving feedback from clients and many other.
Research Plan: This plan is mainly related with the marketing which help the business to
analysis basic wants and requirements of customer towards its products, services and process
