INTRODUCTION
Academic skills are defined as the strategies, abilities as well as habits that help learner to gain
success in their academic session. There are various academic skills such as reading,
communication, reflection presentation and other skills that help in gain new information and
use them in studies for the purpose of gaining higher marks in academics. Academic skills
encourages students to become more efficient and learner and perform academic work with
greater effectiveness. Acquiring these skills enhance student's confidence level that reflect
positive impact on their studies. In the field of health and social care setting development of
academic and ICT skills plays important role to perform defined operations and task in best
possible manner. With having effective academic skills such as communication, decision-
making, problem-solving skills health and social care person can take care of patients in efficient
manner and resolve all their problems in best possible manner. Goal of HSC aspirational is ton
provide batter care to its patients and improve their health conditions. Improvement of
information communication technology and academic skills help HSC aspirants to perform their
operations with greater efficiency and effectiveness. This e-portfolio includes reflection on
development of ICT skill and academic skills throughout module. Apart from that, short
reflection, action plan as well as development of evidences.

Evidence Academic Skills
Academic skills: Academic skills are referred as the study strategies and approaches that are
applied in learning. It is talent and habits that provide various benefits to academic pursuits in
learning, report writing, research and presentation. Improvement in academic skill enhances
capability of students to perform specific task and academic work in more efficient and effective
manner that lead them towards growth and development (Egamnazarova, and Mukhamedova,
2021). Some academic skills and their demonstration are explained below:

Evidence ICT skills
Information communication technology skill: Information communication technology is
defined as the usage of computer, mobile phone, using internet and making video calls that help
in communicating with others and maintain mutual understanding. ITC skill is the essential
requirement in all types of job profile because it enables an individual to organise workload,
streamline processes as well as accessing digital information (Krieger, Block,and Stuetzer,
2018). Some ICT skills that are learned during module are explained below:

piece of equipment, software
programme or product system
which are used to increase,
maintain as well as improve
functional capabilities of a
person with disabilities. It
helped me to gain variety of
information regarding
technologies.
Blogging Through Leap online I have
enhances my capability of
sharing information through
writing, photography and
other media which self -
published online (Ozensoy,
2021). It enhances
opportunities for me to write
diary-style entries and express
my learning in systematic

manner.
Email I have learnt how to write e-
mail in official manner. It
helps me to become consistent,
precise and deliver mail to
others with efficiency. Apart
from that it improved my
writing skill, communication
intelligence and
professionalism.
Mobile apps During Leap online, I have
gained knowledge and
understanding regarding
different mobile applications
such as software applications
that are developed for small
wireless computing devices,
smartphones, tablets and lap
top. I have gained information
such as Facebook, Instagram,
What app and others.
Microsoft office Through Leap online, I learnt
Microsoft skill that enable me
to create spreadsheet, table,
documents as well as present
them in classroom in formal
way. I have used this skill in
developing work documents,
power point, excel and
presenting them in classroom.

Social media In Leap online, I have
communicated with co-
workers through using social
media platforms. I used
different platforms such as
Facebook, LinkedIn and
Instagram for communicating
and maintaining mutual
understanding.
Online safety Throughout the LEAP online I
have learned various aspects of
online safety that help me to
stay safe online. Knowledge of
online safety facilitates me to
protect my data and other
confidential information from
others. I have created strong
password and never share to it.
Zoom I have learnt how to use Zoom
application which is available
on major desktop and mobile
operating system. It helps me
to connect with other team
members and share their ideas
to complete academic or group
task on determined deadline.

Turnitin Throughout the module, I have
understand the concept of
Turnitin which is text-
matching software that helped
me to learn appropriate
formate of citation and
referencing technique.
Knowledge of Turnitin helped
me to identify similarity level
of my work piece.
LEAP Online LEAP Online helped me in my
academic and personal
development that enabled me
to attain my academic and
professional goals in defined
period of time. It helps to gain
higher marks or grades in
academics.
Thus development all these academic and ICT skills help me to perform specific task in efficient
manner. I have used different academic skills such as time-management, organisation skills,
research and other skills in working to attain the objective of efficiency and effectiveness.
Reflections on development of skills
Throughout this module, I have leant various academic as well as information communication
technology skills that improves my overall efficiency to perform defined task in best possible
manner. I have analysed that development or improvement in these skills enables me to attain
specific goals and objectives with greater efficiency and effectiveness. I have Gibbs reflective

model for representing my learning, experiences and other aspects. It includes various stages
description, feeling, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and action plan.
Description: I have provided an assignment on academic and ICT skills in group with 3 other
members. I have taken initiative to interact with other members and understand their strengths as
well as weaknesses than allot them work according to their skills and interest. It helps them to
perform defined task on time with greater efficiency and effectiveness (Rose and et. al., 2020). It
enhances my skills such as leadership, teamwork and other skills that improves my overall
quality.
Feeling: In the beginning of assignment, I was very happy and excited because I have divided all
work among all group members properly. When we face coordination issues than I became
frustrated that impact my overall performance and efficiency. All group members coordinated
with each other through taking participation in regular meetings and conferences. All members
communicate with each other that enhances motivation and lead them towards attaining
determine objective.
Evaluation: During assignment, various things go well such as effective coordination and
communication that helps in attaining specific objective in determined period of time. On the
other hand, we all prepared their task in different language that create difficulty for us. The
biggest task for us to complete project before deadline so all members cancelled our plans and
motivated each other to perform properly (Safitri, 2018).
Analysis: Throughout the project, I have analysed that various academic and ICT skills are
developed in my personality that enabled me to perform defined task in best possible. Our initial
division went well that help to meet deadline. I have learnt research, communication, time-
management, preparing power point and team work that helped to perform good in academics ad
attain higher marks. Apart from that, I have learnt information communication technology skills
such as virtual learning, online research, online collaboration, managing data through software.
All these skills and capabilities enhances my overall capability to perform specific task on time
with effectiveness. I have improved social media management and skills related to Microsoft
work that help to perform specific goals and objectives in best possible manner.
Conclusion: As I have developed various skills and competencies that improve my personality
and enable me to complete academic and other work properly. Improvement in these specific
skills help me to attain determined goals and objectives. There are various problems and

challenges are faced by me during module that enhances my problem-solving and problems
recognition skills. Throughout the module, there are various things that go well on the other
hand, some things impact overall performance in negative manner (Sotiriadou and et. al.,2020). I
have analysed whole situation and take effective decisions on time for completing module before
deadline.
Action plan: During the module I have performed in group and put efforts to complete specific
assignment before deadline that improve various skills. If I will get chance to work in group than
I will ensure that all team members communicate with each other and make sure that all task are
performed according to requirement. I will concentrate on improvement of some specific skills
and capabilities that help me to complete task on deadline. Next time, I will develop proper and
systematic planning to perform task in group as well as provides guidance to others so all team
members put their efforts to complete assignment on time in appropriate manner. I will focus on
using video conferences, calling and other aspects to being in touch with other team members
that will reduce the chances of miscommunication or conflicts.
Throughout reflection process, I have express my feelings, ideas, learning and experiences to
others with confidence that help to maintain mutual understanding. I helps to revise all learnings
and used them in working to achieve the goal of higher performance and efficiency.
Action plan
Action plan is defined as the detailed plan and series of actions that are required for attaining
specific goals and objectives in specific period of time. It is important for developing effective
action plan to develop appropriate goals, set timeline, design resources as well as monitor
progress (Yundayani, and Ardiasih, 2021). It helps to improve specific skills that help to
perform defined task in best possible manner on time. Action plan improving particular skills is

an individual that enable them to perform their task with more efficiency and effectiveness.
During academic module, students learn various academic and information communication
technology skills that improve their overall personality. It is important for students to analyse
their weak skills and develop effective plan to improve them that enable them to attain
determined goals and objectives. Reflection helps to express own ideas, learning and experiences
to others in systematic way.
