ACADEMIC INTEGRITY
Academic dishonesty has been seen to exist in all university around the world. It has been
seen that a lot of universities have strict rules towards academic integrity. The assignment that is
given students must be done by the students themselves and they must not copy it from
somewhere else. Outside sources must be taken but students must not copy from the sources
(Jurdi, Hage & Chow, 2012). The idea needs to be taken from the various outside sources and
then the work must be done in accordance to the need of the assignment. By accounting
academic dishonesty among the different students tell the university about the quality as well as
the integrity of the student.
Academic dishonesty also shows that the students are not giving enough attention during
the lectures and they have no self-idea about completing the given assignment. Academic
dishonesty is considered to be a great misconduct in many universities and the students are
highly fined if they are caught on dishonesty (Jurdi, Hage & Chow, 2012). The various aspect in
which the students are caught cheating the university make the student fail the assignment or on
some cases they are given second chances to do the assignment themselves (Helgesson &
Eriksson, 2015).
For avoiding plagiarism the following strategies needs to be followed:
Paraphrasing must be done in a proper way keeping the information intact. A proper
reading from the source needs to be done and must be paraphrased in the own words.
Citation is also one of the aspect which needs to be followed to avoid plagiarism. The
guidelines of the university must be followed for doing proper citation (Sharma, 2017).
Quoting from the source is also one of the aspect which needs to be followed for avoiding
plagiarism. More quotations must not be used but a few can be done.
