INTRODUCTION Academic skills refers to those skills which are talent as well as habit that pursuit learning, presentation,researchandreport(Carcary,DohertyandConway,2019).Theeskillsare important as it improve knowledge, learning and information of a person and make them capable to bear more responsibility. It allow a person to complete a work in effective manner and also ensure personal as well as professional development. This project report includes discussion of personal as well as professional development. It consist discussion of short term, medium term and long term goals along with example. TASK Personal and professional Development Personal Development: Personaldevelopmentreferstoaprocesswhichconsistdifferentactivitiesthatdevelop capabilities as well as potential of a person, facilitate employability as well as building human capital which enhance quality of life along with realisation of aspiration and dreams(Charlton, 2018). It is life long process which take place over lifespan of individual and is not limited with different stage of life of a person. It helps a person to assess different qualities and skills that consider aims and goals in life to realise their potential. It is important in life of an individual for various reason which are mentioned below: Clarity of vision of a person:Personal development helps a person to have vision in their life related to future that provide clear idea to a person about where they will be in future. Understanding of targets as well as destination in life make it easier for a person to plan things in effective manner which allow them to attain their goals. Sharpening existing skills:Personal development ensure learning and growing of knowledge of a person. It allow an individual to sharpen their skills and allow them to focus on different developing areas with identification of weakness(Corpus, 2018). It provide individual different learning opportunities which they can get from different formal courses. It helps them to reflect on past as well as learning directly from their experience. Open up about talent:Personal development is important as it enable a person to identify hidden talent among them. Talent includes things in which a person is excellent which boost confidence in a person in which they are good. It helps individual to do things in relatively easy
manner and make a person more comfortable about it. It reduce needs of supervision of work of a person and make a person excellent in doing work. Professional Development: Professional Development refersto learning of a person to earn as well as maintaining professional credentials like academic degree to formal coursework, informational learning opportunities, attending conference in practice(Dennis, Bailey and Abbott, 2018). There are different approaches to be adopted by a person for professional development like coaching, lesson study, reflective supervision, technical assistance, consultation and many more. It can be considered as training as well as education of an individual related to career. Main goals of professional development is to keep current trends up to date to develop new skills which ensure advancement. Importance of Professional development in life of a person is mentioned below: Expand knowledge base of a person:Professional development can be take place with continuous education opportunities which can be provided to experience as well as young professionals for new ideas, increasing expertise as well as solidify their knowledge base. Individual who get these learning opportunity which get benefits of it as it expand their learning and knowledge base. Boost confidence:Professional development increase expertise in a person which also increase confidence in a person(Cox, Mulherin and Walter, 2018). It is one of important aspect in all types of industry which can be develop through online courses, training opportunity which allow individual to boost their credibility and confidence with acquisition of new skills as well as professional destinations. Increaseearningaswellaspotentialhireability:Professionaldevelopmentprovide continuous education which helps a person to increase their earning as well as future hire ability of a person on basis of increasing knowledge and enhancement of skills. It consist credentials, certification, designation which can be accessed and obtained with increasing values of a person. Discussion of short term goals and identification of three personal examples 100 Short term goals: Short term goals refers to those goals which can be attained by a person in near future. These goals are easy which can be achieve by a person within few week, month or within a year. These goals are those which a person wants to attain soon and does not require much time and efforts. Increase focus:Short term goals are those goals which provide clear focus as well as direction in life of a person as it helps them to achieve what they want. It increase their motivation along with productivity and allow a person to focus on their plans and actions. Examples of Short term goals: Learning French is one of my short term goal as I needs to learn French language to improve my language skill. It will also helps me in future to find out more opportunities in life. Learning computer course as I have lack of technical ability and in order to improve my this weakness, I join computer classes to learn computer. It is one of require skills for every job as due to advancement of technology, people are using computers and software for every purpose. Writing my resume is another short term goals as in order to apply for a job or finding a career opportunity, I needs to prepare my resume which contain my academic and personal information. Discussion of medium term goals and identification of three personal examples Medium Term goals: Medium term goals are those goals which are attained after short term goals and provide a base for long term goals(Page, Nimon-Peters and Urquhart, 2021). These goals can be attained in lesser time than long term goals. Medium term goals can be attained after attainment of short term goals which provide flexible scenario. It is as set of goals which is existed between short term and long term goals. As long term goals take more time for attainment, medium term goals helps a person to increase their motivation as it can be attained in less time and with less efforts. It is important in life of a person for various reason which are mentioned below: Increase motivation:Medium term goals can be attained in less time in compare to long term goals which increase their motivation. It also require less efforts and attainment of these goals increase motivation of a person.
Consistent efforts:Medium term goals allow individual to make consistent efforts towards success and allow them to attain long term goals which helps them to get success. It improve trust as well as morale of individual which boost their optimism for attainment of long term goals. Examples of Medium term goals: One of my medium term goals is to pass semester exams with getting good grades as it helps to build good image in minds of professor(Sally, 2018). It provide different opportunity to individual for building their career. Saving money n end of the year for learning new courses which improve my capability and provide me opportunity to build career in specific field. It provide me additional skills which make me different from other individual. Building network is another medium term goals as it provide me different opportunities. These people provide me information where hiring is available and recommend me which helps me to get good grades in exams. Discussion of long term goals and identification of three personal examples Long term goals: Long term goals refers to those goals which take time time, planning and efforts for accomplishments. These goals require years and also take much efforts. These goals are related to future period of time a it is prepared for future and require proper time and planning for attainment(Sampaio, Bastos and Marinho, 2021). There are different steps to be require for attainment of these goals which provide success in personal as well as professional life of a person. It is important in life of a person for various reason which are as follows: Clarity:Having clear goals increase motivation of a person and also provide them transparency for future. It is important for a person to set long term goals as it provide them clarity and provide roads to reach there. It increase their focus towards attainment of goals and allow them to move there. Empowerment:Attainment of long term goals empower a person as person as it require lots of efforts to attain these types of goals. It helps them to gain different types of knowledge, information as for attainment of these goals, a person first needs to attain short term as well as long term goals. Examples of Long term goals:
Completion of graduation in well recognised colleges where I can get opportunity to improve my skills and knowledge. It helps me to build my career and develop new skills in me that make me efficient from others. Identification of job opportunities is my another goals which is important for purpose of earning money. Ultimate aim of life of a person is to earn money as it provide them freedom in life. Getting promotion opportunities in life of a person is another goals(Szenasi and Hey, 2020). It provide new learning opportunity and make a person more responsible. It increase responsibility as well as salary of a person which make them satisfied.
