INTRODUCTION
Management and leadership are playing vital role in success and growth of companies.
As it help to achieve greater progress in competitive business environment that affects strategic
management and leadership tactics. The current assignment will be based on Primark, which
falls under category of leading clothing companies in UK, apparel sector. This study will discuss
role of and relationship between leadership and management styles within historical context by
using appropriate theories from 1900 up to latest day.
MAIN BODY
Role of management and leadership styles in new situation by utilizing theories
COVID- 19 is one of the new situations in which leadership and management styles
within Primark Organization plays important role. Management can be defined as set of norms
related to functions of planning, organizing, monitoring and controlling and application of these
principles in a specific situation, like above one. There are range of management styles are
accessible in the world of business that manager in Primark firm can use to manage performance
and practices of workers as well as business according to norms of new pandemic, named corona
virus.
Autocratic is one of the most used to management styles that manager in chosen clothing
company can use to work accordant to situation and norms of COVID-19 (ZAMANI,
POURATASHI and JAHANSEIRKAJANI, 2017). This style is really very essential in this
condition, because workers needs to work according to government rules and policies and has to
follow guidelines, which is only possible when manager can use right management style such as
Autocratic. It plays role guiding and monitoring applicant’s performance and act at workplace
while providing services to consumers. It is a management style wherein one individual controls
all judgements and takes few little inputs from other team members. Autocratic manager make
decisions based on his or her own beliefs and do not include others for their recommendation as
it may increase risk as failure when advice does not work effectively. Manager with this form
can take decision about how to make plan to train workers which makes them able to work by
taking proper precautions and considering pandemic guidelines that is quite beneficial for
employees as well as customers.
Situational leadership style also contributes in new situation facing by Primark and
other clothing retail companies (Fernandez and Shaw, 2020). It plays significant role by
