Alfred Hitchcock is one of the most popular directors in Britain as well as in the United
States. His particular auteur style is one of the major reasons for his popularity. His ways of
dealing with the camera in respect to his films help his films to be different. Features like the
low key as well as the edge lighting, tend to create the mood. On the other hand, the odd angles,
as well as the morbid perspectives and themes, helps in creating an alert in the audience so that
they tend to miss out on things that they otherwise would have done so. Hitchcock believed that
everybody who is involved in the film must work together in order to make the film better. Apart
from being the master of light, he created the setting full of darkness successfully as well. The
dark atmosphere created by him tends to create a close in effect as well. The director also uses
the technique of the spider web shadows. He is able to manipulate the audience with what he
makes the audience see and even with what he does not make the audience see. Hitchcock is
using certain techniques of the camera which tends to create an important theme of voyeurism.
