2MANAGEMENT
The ethical dilemma that has been reflected in this article is about changing the leave
policy. The ethical dilemma was between whether or not to bring changes in their leave policies
and also payment structures (Meyersohn, 2019). The leading supermarket chain Walmart has
been facing an ethical dilemma regarding the allowance of extra monetary benefit like a bonus,
paid leaves, extended leaves to their workers. However, this has not been a very easy decision
because giving extra leaves and bonus to their workers can often hamper their production.
However, on the other hand, they have to develop a proper connection with their employees so
that they can win over the trust of their employees. There have also been criticisms that Walmart
has often made their policies bit tough for the workers who are pregnant. However, Walmart has
tried their best to balance this dilemma in a proper way (MacDougall et al., 2015). They made
sure that they are being able to reward the workers who arrive every day and at the same time
make sure that they are also protecting the ones who had no choice but to skip work for some
days or the other.
The theory of Kant's categorical imperative can be used in order to understand this
case of ethical dilemma and how the company is actually dealing with it (Baron, 2018). The
theory of Kant is mainly divided I to broad headings. This is mainly because of the fact that

that they have in mind
