INTRODUCTION
Personal development plan is documenting a procedure of self-analysis, personal
reflection as well as honest appraisal of strength and weakness of individual. In addition to
this, before designing personal development plan individual have to conduct skill audit
because this will assist them in analysing strength and weakness. After analysing weakness
individual design personal development plan which help in overcoming with weakness in
effective manner. This report is divided in 4 tasks i.e., Skills audit analysis, Personal
development plan, Work based project (short, medium- and long-term goals) as well as
reflection. All these will assist in better development of individual as well as also help in
conducting activities related to better future in effective manner.
TASK 1 Skills audit analysis
Skills audit is systematic assessment related to research skills as well as knowledge.
In addition to this, audit must have to provide evidence related to existing or developing
competence. Moreover, skill audit is related with need analysis which simply means
identifying any requirement for training or personal development. In simple term it can be
said that, skill audit as well as need analysis have two sides i.e., what individual has as well
as what they need. Furthermore, initial skill audit and needs analysis is reflective procedure
as well as it should be update on regular basis.
I am working at a well know boys boarding school Harrow School for the past couple
of years as a Housekeeping Supervisor as well as I am currently enrolled in my second year
at the Metropolitan London School of Science & Technology.
I have joined Harrow school in August 2015 and shortly after I have been encourage to enter
a managerial leadership and management development programme which allowed me to
develop my personal and professional skills. In my role I have encountered different
situations where I needed to develop myself, and where I was able to asses my strengths and
weaknesses.
For doing skill audit there is requirement of conducting SWOT analysis because this
assist in identifying strength, weakness, opportunity and threat. Explanation of SWOT
analysis in relation of my own skills ae as follows :-

developing innovative projects in their educational career. Students get success in life when

can be said that, PDP is the procedure of developing action plan which is based on awareness,
value, goal setting, reflection as well as planning related to personal development in context
of career, education, self-improvement and many more. In addition to this, it is essential to
implement personal development plan because this will provide assistance in developing
weak areas in more effective manner and accomplishing file goals. Thus, my weakness are
time management, decision making, communication and planning. For me it is important to
develop it in effective manner as they will assist me in gaining better future opportunities as

Personal Objectives
Short-term goals (next 12 months)
Organisation short-term goal is improving communication within employees as well as it
will help in improving performance of business firm. It is related to something that
individual want to do in near future in which near future can be related to toady, this week,
this month or even year. In addition to this, short term goals is something which individual
want to accomplish or achieve soon. My short-term goals is to complete young manager
course for getting eligible for engagement in completion of business project activities. This
will help me in gaining more better future opportunities in long term. Thus, it can be said

that my short-term goals will assist in accomplishing long term goals as well as objectives
in better manner. apart from this, it can be said that short-term goals play important role in
life of every individual because they have several short-term goals which particular person
want to accomplish in their daily routine. In simple term it can be said that, Short-term
goals are simply daily basis goals and objectives of individual life.
Medium term goals (next 2-3 years)
Medium-term objectives overcome any barrier between every day exercises and the drawn-
out vision you have for your organization. In relation of business firm, medium-term goals
are removing high employees turnover which is necessary for gaining better advantages in
more effective manner. For new businesses and more current organizations, medium-term
objectives last more than a year, however under five years. Organizations that have existed
longer than 25 years frequently have an alternate thought of what medium-term implies.
My medium-term goal is being responsible for leading as well as managing small team for
supporting challenging business project in better manner. in addition to this, I want to
engage in supporting function across functional project team that will gives me significant
business exposures. In addition to this, medium-term goals in sone which taking bit long
time as well as it could be goal to accomplish within next 2 weeks, a month or perhaps 6
months.
Longer term goals (beyond 3 years)
In relation of organisation, long-term objectives is to improve performance of company
because this will assist in gaining long-term sustainability within business environment.
Long- term objectives characterize the organization's vision. They will in general be loftier
than short-and medium-term objectives and frequently have expectations that reach out
past benefit making, for example, constructing and interfacing networks, annihilating
sickness, safeguarding assets, building up an informed labour force and decreasing
worldwide clashes. Truly, the thought processes behind a portion of the loftier objectives
feed straight once again into the organization's main concern, yet making a benefit and
making the world a superior spot doesn't need to be totally unrelated. Gaining promotion to

Along with this, another long-term goals is to be responsible for managing large team and
number of employees. In addition to this, Long-term goals is the one that take long time in
comparison of medium-term goals. Although, it could be goal to accomplish within next 6
months or within 20 years.
It is important for an individual to accomplish all these three goals in effective manner
because they play important role in life of individual. Although, it can be said that individual
goals are classified within three major sections i.e., Short-term, medium-term as well as long-
term goals. It is important to accomplish all these goals in effective manner because they
provide assistance in gaining competitive future opportunities in effectual manner. Along
with this, personal objectives are related to job-specific goals for each and every individual
staff member. In addition to this, personal objective is essential because they will
communicate to employees and it include what is important as well as what is expected to

TASK 3 Work-based project
Introduction
The present discussion is regarding the need of motivation among employees within
an organisation. Employee motivation is related to enthusiasm, commitment and energy level
that an employee brings to the company on regular basis. There are basically two types of
motivation – intrinsic and extrinsic. The number of motivated employees are known as an
asset for success of firm. it is the responsibility of organisation to understand the need of
motivation and increase the level of employee engagement.
Problem Statement/Issues
If the company is not able to motivate and encourage employees, then it is not
possible to attain organisational targets in specified time. Motivated employees within a
company don’t need to be told about how to get their work done properly. They take
initiatives and are always eager to take up new responsibilities. They are also good

motivators and manage the business activities efficiently. That is why there is need to have
motivation among employees.
Methodology
Data is collected through secondary sources including websites, books, journals, etc.
Information regarding employee motivation is grabbed through different websites. Views
given by different authors are also considered while writing the literature review.
Literature Review
According to the views of Idowu, (2017), motivation is known as state of mind which
is filled with enthusiasm and energy. This drives an individual to work in efficient manner for
attaining goals. Motivation is known as force which pushes an individual for working with
high level of commitment. This is very essential to ensure that all team members of an
organisation are motivated enough to attain their goals and assigned targets in less time. As
per Abraham Maslow, it is essential for an employer to fulfil five types of needs of an
employee. These include physiological, safety, social, self esteem and self actualisation
needs. If an employee is satisfied within the organisation, then only he or she will be able to
put efforts for attaining goals. Another motivational theory given by Hertzberg states that
there are hygiene factors which are needed in order to ensure that employee is not dissatisfied
(Thokozani, 2017). On the other hand, motivation factors are required for ensuring
employee’s satisfaction and motivation for high performance. Motivation is not guaranteed
for just mere presence of hygiene factors.
Findings and Discussions
There are several ways by which employee motivation is helping a company to grow. An
organisation can enhance employee motivation through following ways -
By creating a healthy working scenario: Workplace environment holds an important
value, as employee's will perform better if a healthy and positive environment is given
to them. As work environment directly affects the assigned tasks of the employees.
Appreciation: By receiving appreciation, recognition and rewarding it will boost the
morale of employees as this will give them full satisfaction from their jobs.

Communication: An effective two-way communication is very helpful in boosting
employee's morale as this will ensure that their opinions and inputs are valued by the
organization.
Encourage healthy competition: By encouraging healthy competition within the
organization, it will boost motivation of the employees to perform better than each
other.
Recommendation
In order to resolve issues of underperforming employees and poor communication in the
workplace, there are following recommendations that a company can follow -
By providing effective training session to the employees who are not able to perform
while they can provide them proper knowledge about the work which need to be
perform.
The leaders and managers should guide its team member whiling performing work so
that they can improve and enhance their skills and abilities.
By implementing effective monitoring and controlling activities the management
would able to identify the week performing employees and take corrective actions to
improve their performance.
By establishing healthy and friendly relation with the employees the company would
able to improve the poor communication adn should focus on making employees
comfortable in the work place.
Management should start valuing the opinions of the workforce and should involve
them in the decisions making process of company as they are the most important part
of the organisation.
TASK 4 Reflection
Gibbs reflective cycle is one of the well-known cyclical models of reflection which
leading through six stages which are description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion as
well as action plan. It was developed by Graham Gibbs in 1988 for giving structure to
learning from experience. In addition to this, respective model offers framework for
examining experience as well as given its cyclic nature lends itself particularly well for
repeating experience and allowing to learn as well as plan things that either went well or

didn’t go well. I have experienced that skill development will be helpful for me to manage
the conduction of research and projects. There are various difficulties which I have to
conquer and meet the goals and objectives. Training and development sessions will help in
conducting the projects and scenarios in efficient manner. By using this model explanation of
my contribution in organisation are as follows :-
Description - I am currently practising tutorship in subject of management. I prepare
lessons on business management and ethics. I have recently prepared lesson on
employee motivation. I have ensured that all individuals of the class must understand
the importance of motivation at workplace. I was nervous at first when I started while
explaining lessons to tutors but afterwards, I felt confident. I have analysed that
motivation is the key factor while working in any organisation. Only a motivated
employee is able to meet the assigned targets in specified time. I have realised that if
the needs of staff members are satisfied, then they are able to manage the functioning
effectively.
Feelings – I have studied various aspects of motivation and how they help me to
manage different business functions. It is essential for me to conduct all business
activities properly so that I can attain my assigned targets. I am not good at
communicating so for improving this, I have been trying to attend different lectures
and workshops based on communication skills. I think communication is the key for
successful implementation of motivation among employees.
Evaluation – I think for a company; it is important to attain success. This is directly
linked with motivated employees. I have focused upon increasing motivation of all
staff members. I try to share different ideas and important of business with team
members so that they will feel committed. In this way, targets can be accomplished
easily. I have also evaluated that company have to firstly improve communication
within their staff members because this will help in building good relation and
enhancing productivity of company.
Analysis – It is important for me to analyse the need of motivation so that I can work
in better manner. Improved communication with team members is needed for
managing different business functions properly. I think, it is important to take major
steps for reducing employee’s turnover. This can be done by increasing their

Conclusion On the basis of self analysis, I have understood that working of the
organisation involves various activities which helps in carrying operations in effective
and efficient manner. On the basis of above evaluation, I have develop an action plan
so that I would able to carry my future operations effectively and efficiently.
Action plan – It is important to take major action in order to increase motivation
among employees. Business firm will able to conduct each and every activity in better
manner and accomplish desired goals and objectives. Thus, for improving
communication, it is essential to focus upon workshop and lectures. So, that managers
including me will be able to communicate with each and every employee in better
manner.
CONCLUSION
After going through overall discussion, it has been summarised that for an individual
it is essential to develop the areas in which they are weak for gaining better future
opportunities. In relation of this, first step is skill audit because with the assistance of this
individual will able to identify their strength and weakness in better manner. After analysing
this, personal development plan will be design which provide assistance in developing weak
areas so, that better future opportunities will be gained in effectual way. Moreover, through
personal development individual will able to determine their short term, medium term and
long-term objectives. Although, in simple term it can be said that for an individual it is
important to develop the areas in which they are weak because this will help them in gaining
