The role of a project leader:
According to the content provided, a leader is someone who rules, provides guidance and
inspiration to others. Therefore, the main responsibility of a leader is to provide direction to
others and helps them achieve their personal as well as team goals. Leaders provide context
for others to achieve goals and therefore, controls behaviours of others.
In project, it is required to identify and achieve project goals and someone is provided the
authority to set direction for achieving goals and also determine if the goal is achieved or not.
Along with this, the team leader is required to influence others for committing their
knowledge and they are also required to ensure that the team members are dedicated to
provide their effort for achieving the project goal.
It is easy for me to interpret these aspects of a project leadership because I was once involved
in a project, though not as a leader but as a team member. We had a group of 5 people and
developing our first project of designing a website for a client. As this was our first project,
we had very little knowledge regarding project management and therefore achieving the
project purpose and project goal was not that easy for the team. Due to some delay in code
design, the project was delayed, however, while the project was provided to our team, it was
described the client will not extend the timeline for the project and project budget as well.
Therefore, in order to deliver the project, we required to skip the testing process. However,
we knew that if the testing is not done, then it might affect the security of the website due to
security vulnerabilities and to identify these vulnerabilities, we had to execute the testing
process.
Our team leader took the responsibility and decided to arrange a meeting with the client.
After the importance of testing was described to the client along with reason for delay in the
project, the client approved extension of time and asked to deliver the website while ensuring
