Executive summary
The main aim of the report is to develop a mobile application for the train users of Australia so
that they can have a better access towards the reservation system. When it comes to public
transport it becomes difficult to travel due to improper management system within the railway.
Thus there is a need to implement an effective measure that will be able to meet the needs of the
customers and will offer the customers with a comfortable journey. In order to remove the issue
with overcrowded trains it has been recommended to design a biometric train reservation system
that will ensure only registered users with valid tickets have been allowed to enter into the train.
The report will describe the necessary strategy and changes that will be implemented within the
Australian railway for the purpose of enhancing the services.

Introduction
With the growing population it has become impossible to get access over the public
transport. Australian railways have faced several challenges in managing the railway services
and thus it has been decided to implement biometrics in the train reservation process. With the
help of biometric in train reservation system it will become easy to manage the users. Without
proper biometric it will become difficult to manage the passengers as it has been observed that
the passengers have a tendency to travel without tickets. This report will focus on recommending
a useful mobile application that will help the passenger to have a smooth journey.
Strategy Analysis
With the analysis of the data in railway system of Australia it can be stated that the
current ticket reservation system has several drawbacks and also leads to impacting the
passengers. Thus there is a need to implement proper system that will ensure better safety and
security towards the passengers. Current system fails in providing proper success towards the
passengers and this can lead to hamper the services offered with the railways. Thus there is a
need to implement proper system that will be able to ensure that only reserved passengers are
allowed to enter the train. This will provide better safety towards the passengers as excessive
passenger in the train can hamper the overall services offered with the railway system. Thus
there is a need to implement proper information system that will be able to provide enhanced
features towards the customers. In order to remove the issue faced with overcrowded trains the
railway authorities has been recommended a new way of booking tickets. The recommended
design will allow the user to register within the system by using biometric. After this passenger
will be able to use their tickets with the use of biometrics only. Beside this no customers will be
allowed to get over the train and this will ensure that each system has been accessed
successfully.

The aim of the report is to develop a proper biometric train reservation system that will
be able to meet the needs of the customers. For the purpose of developing the biometric based
reservation system there are several requirements that are needed to be addressed before

implementing the system. The requirements include fetching necessary details from the customer
and ensure that each customers has provided their biometric at the time of registration. The
application will be operated by the passenger by providing their biometrics. Without biometric
passengers will not be allowed to enter the coaches of the train. As soon as the train tickets has
been reserved the passenger will be able to enter the coaches with the help of their biometric.
Thus with the help of this system it will become easy to improve the efficiency of the ticket
reservation system.

 FR1: The user will be allowed to book ticket after providing source and destination
station.
 FR2: List of trains will be provided towards the customers after providing details of
journey.
 FR3: The system will further allow the user to review the tickets available so that the
