Question 1
The state which is considered is New South Wales region of Australia and the
organization which is responsible for regulating the WHS regulations in the region is SafeWork
NSW. The regulating body looks after the work health and safety of the employees and also
advises companies how to make improvements in the same.
Question 2
Part a
In order to promote the work and safety of the employees, new regulations which is the
WHS regulations was brought about in 2012. There were several acts, regulations and code of
practice introduced in the new legislation which was introduced to ensure that workplace safety
of the employees is maintained. It is to be noted there exists a relationship between acts,
regulations and code of practice of a business and also its policies. All of these exists so that the
workplace can be made a better place for the employees of the business. An Occupational Health
and Safety Act is a formal description of the law which is passed by a state or Union
government. The act which is passed by the government becomes legally binding. On the other
hand, WHS regulations are more detailed elements created to support the law and also the duties
established in the Act. The code of practice which is practiced in Australia is basically a guide as
to how employee can achieve acceptable standard. A code of conduct needs to be consistent with
the regulations and act and the same needs to be followed by all employees. Therefore, the above
discussion shows that there exists a positive relation between all the components. It is essential
for act, regulations and code of practice so that there is successful implementation of WHS
regulations in the business.
