Applying Evidence in Practice (PDF)_2
INTRODUCTIONChange is the only thing which remains constant. In this rapidly growing world, transformation is happening in every aspect of life on a regular basis. In nursing sector, there aremany evidence based practices which are accountable for implementing new models of healthcare. Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation is the organization which is taken in thisassignment and the main aim of developing this assessment is to develop knowledge of theprocess which are involved in practice change. In addition to this, Roger's Diffusion ofInnovation Theory is being used to execute the change and manage procedure accordingly(Laschinger and Fida, 2014). MAIN BODYEvidence-based practice is determined as an approach that lookout for best resourcesthrough which patients can be provided suitable treatments. It is important for implementing newinterventions and therapies to minimise cases of functional decline in older people. Organisationneed to execute business suitable change model in regard of executing change in moremanageable form. Therefore, there are different kinds of change model which organisation canintroduce in order to guide the translation of knowledge into practice. Bullying is a repeated action of unreasonable behaviour which can further create risk toan individuals in regards to health and safety. Therefore, bullying can be considered as anactivity under which an individual is being hurt either by actions or verbal terms. The harm canbe physical and emotional damage (Pilch and Turska, 2015). Workplace bullying in nursing sector is not new as individuals are suffering from thisissues. Cases of workplace bullying is increasing rapidly because of which professional andpersonal life are getting hampered. Thus, it is a serious health care issue which is affecting nursesand midwives therefore, Australian Nursing Federation (ANF) is playing a crucial role forpreventing bullying with the help of risk management approach. For example: they areencouraging all the victims to report immediately to respective centres who are facing workplacebullying. Other than this, they have set some norms and regulations under working environmentprovided should be safe. In addition to this, ANF has provided a guideline under whichimplementation of bullying policy is must and this outlines behaviour standards. Further, they1

have to give incentives to person who are victims of workplace bullying (Spence Laschinger andNosko, 2015). In relation with workplace bullying, there was a case in Australian Nursing andMidwifery Federation in which a senior nursing staff was facing problem as she was victim ofbullying for several years. According to the victim, main reason why they faced bullying wasconstant questions asked by their senior doctors such as “Where are you going?” “What are youdoing?” As per the dupe, this is not appropriate because when a team is working with anexperienced nurses, this kind of behaviour is not acceptable. Therefore, because of workplacebullying, nurses are facing really bad phase and are feeling stressful while doing any particularjob because of workplace bullying, many of their staff members are leaving their jobs (Nielsenand et. al., 2015). Henceforth, after analysing the case, it can be evaluated that management of AustralianNursing and Midwifery Federation have to work on some changes which are required toimplement modification in existing framework using some change model to carry out propersolution to this issues. Moreover, they can use Diffusion of Innovation Theory which wasdeveloped by Everett Rogers and was first published in the year around 1962. In this, developertried to explain about the how, why and at what rate new and innovative idea changes areimplemented and spread. Furthermore, the model includes fours basic elements which areinnovation, communication channels through which it could be spread, time and social system inwhich it is being implemented. Moreover, it's success can be determine on the basis of rate ofadaption such as how rapidly innovation is reaching to critical masses. Moreover, the process ofdiffusion go through five steps and these are Knowledge: In this, an individual try to find out the requirement of innovation butbecause of less information plans are not executed. Thus, department or person tend to find outmore information in order tom make appropriate plans. Persuasion: Under this, department of a company show their interest and guide theiremployees in actively lookout for the information so as to get adequate knowledge. Decision: In this, decision are taken after analysing the advantages and disadvantages sothat management can make proper decision of what will be the best in order to get effectiveresults. 2
