INTRODUCTION
Leadership is a process that is followed by the leader to influence the behaviour,
attitude of the workers that are working in the organization. The report will be based on
Brooklands Hotel. The hotel is located in Surrey, London UK(Lisak, A. and Erez, 2015).
The report will outline various functional areas of the hotel, organization structure,
importance of interdepartmental communication. The Report will also describe similarities
and difference in styles of leadership. Further, it will also explain the leadership style which
is more suitable for global company.
MAIN BODY
1) Functional areas of the company.
There are various functional areas in Brooklands Hotel. They are as follows-
Housekeeping department- Housekeeping department of Brooklands Hotel is responsible
for maintaining the rooms of guests. Employees working in Housekeeping department helps
in creating a positive impact on the clients of the hotel.
Front office department- The employees working in Front Office department is
responsible for welcoming the clients of the hotel, carry the bags to hotel rooms, They
maintain direct contact with the guests of the hotel(Milanovic, 2016).
Accounting department- The accounting department of Brooklands Hotel is responsible
for performing various tasks such as preparing invoice for guests, reconciliation of accounts,
reporting financial reports and deals with financial institutions for obtaining finance etc.
Human Resource department- Human Resource department of Brooklands hotel plays a
major role in performing managerial functions such as recruiting the employees or the hotel.
Human resource manager is responsible for providing training and development to the staff
of hotel such as employees working in various departments etc.
Food and Beverage department- It is responsible for providing service of food to the
guest of the hotel. Chef is responsible for preparing food items for the clients of the hotel.
Hierarchy of management-
Proper hierarchy is important for controlling various functions of the departments of an
organisation. This helps to achieve the goals and objectives of the hotel. The hierarchy of
management in Brooklands Hotel is as follows-
General Manager-
The general manager of Brooklands Hotel is responsible for hiring workers for the hotel,
developing standard for performance of the employees. General Manager plays a major role
in developing strategies for the organisation and also helps in developing the financial plans
for finance department of the hotel.
