INTRODUCTION Management is the activity of dealing with or controlling things or people. Operation is the area of management which is associated with the process of controlling and designing the process of production and manufacturing in the organization. Operations and management ensures that the operations carried out in an organization makes use of resources efficiently and effectively. The services provided by them is online advertising, search engine, cloud computing software and hardware (Shimojo and et.al., 2015). Report will provide the differences between role of leader and managers. It will also focus on the role of leader and manager in differentsituationalcontext.Studyfocusesonthedifferentapproachesofoperations management. It will also provide the importance of operations management in business TASK 1 P1. Different roles and characteristics of leaders and managers Leader- A leader is a person who is engaged in the activity of influencing and motivating people. This individual holds a superior position in the organization..They are also seen as the idol by their followers. Leaders in Google are the person who provide support to the other employees. They assist other employees and their team members in improving their performance by providing them constant motivation. Leaders make use of open communication so that they can easily understand the needs and demands of team members in the firm. Google have the most fascinating leaders because of which the rate of turnover in company is very low. Managers-A manager in a company can be defined as a person who is involved in managing various activities in the organization. The activities can include handling of human resources, promoting the products and services of firm can also act as a negotiator (Alharbi and Raahemifar, 2015). Google is involved in hiring those managers who are responsible for overseeing a department or a group of employees..Managers of Google are engaged in providing training to workers and employees so that they can enhance their skills which can help them in outshining their career. This also supports organization in retaining the workers and attracting new and efficient employees. Managers are also involved in monitoring and controlling the expenses and budgets. They provide motivation to workers and employees by giving them monetary and non-monetary incentives. This assists Google in reducing employee turnover. 3

Also leaders make use of communication, so that they can analyse the needs and demands of workers so that they can fulfil them. This can assist them in reducing the employee turnover in Google. Motivated employees create a sense of belongingness in the firm. So improved relationship between leaders and team workers can reduce the attrition rate. Functions of manager-Employees who are uncertain about the future of the company may leave the organization, so managers have the role to provide them with clear vision and mission. This assists them in reducing the turnover rate in Google. A vision sets out the company’s future direction and the employee’s place in the company, helping to dispel rumours and other misinformation that can destabilize a workforce. Employees can also leave the company because of the unclear roles and objectives, so manager has the role to provide them with clear mission. This can support them in staying motivated (Van Dooren, Bouckaert and Halligan, 2015). Conflict-Situation of conflict in Google can arise because of the miss-communication, dis- satisfaction or no support from the management. In this type of situation, the employees generally leave the firm. When this situation arises the good will of the firm can get hamper and also the brand image can be hampered. Functions of leader-Leader of Google has the main role to accommodate with the situation. They are engaged in creating the better environment for the employees of Google. Mostly open communication is used by them to avoid the situation of conflict. They also have the role to collaborate with the team members. In this the leaders come up with new and creative solutions to the problems faced by the employees or workers. This can assist them in overcoming the situation of conflict. In this type of leadership, the leaders and managers of Google has the role to motivate employees working at all levels. In this type of approach, the leaders and managers ask the employees to choose the task they want to perform. They delegate responsibilities to them. The organization has also made use of total quality management to enhance the quality and making effective utilization of resources. Also leaders and managers has motivated workers to perform better.
