Aspects of the Health and Safety_2

Introduction The present report tries to evaluate various aspects of the Health and Safety policies in thecontext of an organization named Total Clean. The report further tries to analyze its findingswhich were received after conducting both primary and secondary researches in order to providesuitable recommendations. Task 1 1 Secondary Research Findings 1.1Literature review According to the theories of Henry Fayol, the following theories of management are relevant inthis context; Authority and responsibility This theory states that the two concepts of authority and responsibility are inter related.Authority is defined as a right which gives the power to provide orders and to receive obedience.Responsibility on the other hand is about being committed towards one’s duties. Therefore, verynaturally, both authority and responsibility are closely related to each other (Fayol, 2016). Unit of command This theory states that the employees or workers of an organization should receive their orders orjob responsibilities from a single manager (Fayol, 2016). Unit of Direction The unit of direction theory states that every organization should move ahead with a commonobjective or a common direction (Fayol, 2016). Maslow Hierarchy of Needs According to Maslow, the employees of an organization has five types of needs namely, physiological needs, safety needs, needs of belonging, self-esteem needs and self-actualization

needs. In the context of the present report, the safety need is more relevant. The safety need issubject to the need of security, protection, consistency etc. in an organization (Maslow andLewis, 1987). Theory of Bureaucracy Max weber was the first one to apply the concept of bureaucracy in the context of organizationculture. Bureaucracy is a system which is relevant in the context of organizational practices andit is a combination of various rules and regulations, policies and other requirements in thecontext of an organization. According to Max Weber, bureaucracy is the most proficient conceptwhich can be applied in the context of any organization. Weber further stated that this theory iscan show better results compared to the traditional organizational theories as it encouragesequality and uniformity inside an organization and does not encourage any kind ofdiscrimination (Weber, 1978). In the context of Total clean, it is observed that the organization takes initiatives to keep its toolsand equipment safe for the protected operation of various activities (Total Clean, 2018). Theyalso try to reduce the risk of health arising from their cleaning procedures and articles. They alsoprovide trainings to their employees regarding health and safety. Hence, this can be depictedthat, Total Clean takes good care to fulfill the safety needs of its employees and also makes surethat the employees are provided with proper order and responsibilities. Hence Maslow’s needtheory and Fayol’s authority and responsibility theory holds good in this context. 2 Primary Research Findings 2.1 Survey to Total Clean employees A survey was conducted to find out the level of satisfaction of the employees working in TotalClean. The sample size was 10. The survey questions are shown in the Appendices (Appendix 1)section of the report. 2.1.1 Survey Results Are you satisfied with your job roles in Total Clean?
