State and Commonwealth Legislation and Policy Frameworks provides information regarding
policies, procedures and legislation which must be followed while working. The Queensland
government has developed the policy framework with significant resources and attempted to
provide all such information in regard to the policies.
There are tons of resources available online including fact sheets and information sheets that
aim to help parents and students navigate the legislation regarding education. In any case if
one is unsure about any policies, procedures or directives one can seek support from teachers
or immediate supervisors to gain clarification. The most significant part of it is to understand
the roles and what is expected from a certain person in the workplace following the legislation,
policy and procedures that dictates it.
2 Who would you seek clarification from if you were unsure about whether certain legislative
directives applied to you and/or if you received conflicting information about legislative
directives, policies and procedures?
In any cases where one would seek clarification when unsure about whether certain legislative
directives applied to me or if I have received conflicting information in regard to legislative
directives, procedures and policies from the immediate supervisors. It is never appropriate to
assume the information associated with the roles with the immediate supervisor. There is possibility
of having several policies however that does not mean that it applies to every job roles or
specifically job role that one is assigned.
3 What are some of the key obligations you have in the workplace, due to work health and safety
legislation, policies and procedures?

An employee has the responsibilities of working safely in a health and safe environment. It is
important to work remembering the key obligations. The key obligations in regard to the health,
safety legislation, policies and procedures are:
Managing and responding to hazards and risk such as falls and trips, hazardous
chemicals, zip heaters, frayed carpet.
Supporting classroom safety for yourself and others that involves mental as well as
physical safety.
4 What’s the name of the review that occurred, leading to massive reforms in the field of child

The office of the Public Guardian (OPG) is responsible for protecting the rights of vulnerable adults
who are not capable of making decision and children as well as young people in out-out-of home
care, residential care and youth detention. Several significant legislative reforms have been

Therefore, in order to convey any grievances, the message should reach the authorities.
Educational organizations have various documents in order to carry out business. There can be
documentation as teachers are required to provide written records and here it can be observation
and reports.

a) What should you do?
b) Who should you report this to?

If I observed non-compliance to policies or legislation in the workplace then,
a) I must take immediate action that means I can speak to the person that this matter involves.
b) I should report it to the immediate supervisor in order to bring forth the matter. It could be
the teacher of the classroom or it could be some other person and give them details about
the issue.

My role under the direct supervision of my senior includes several of tasks. These includes assisting
and participating in the activities that develop and improve the social, physical and the emotional
and also the intellectual development of the students. Furthermore provision of the feedback to the
teachers regarding the participation of the students in learning activities of the educational
environment is the part of my role towards managing enquiries. In case I don’t have the information
that has been requested to be enquired with me, I seek support from my supervisors , consult with
other workers, inspect the checklist and review regarding the enquiry posted and try to resolve it
following the ethical standards.

members are some of the effective method of sharing information. Besides this, willingness to

Brief
This factsheet is aimed to be utilized for the new joinees as teaching Assistants. The fact sheet
covers many of key responsibilities and the requirements of the role of teaching assistants. The
factsheet includes the roles and the responsibilities of the role together with the attributes that is
needed towards the support of the educational activities and the assisting of the students for the
achievement of positive learning outcomes. This fact sheet includes the procedures and the polices

and the standards of the confidentiality which is expected from this role includes using the
information required, storing of the correct data, controlling the access to the information, changing

Information about Duty of Care–
Duty of care refers to the obligations for taking the responsible care towards the protection of the

where the relation extends to the teacher aids while working with the students. In case of the
teaching assistant, they must maintain the duty of care for ensuring the behavior, conduct and
actions that don’t adversely affect the rights or the safety in the educational environment.
Legislation–
There are some of the legislation associated with the role of the teaching assistant. The role of the
teaching assistant comes under the wider banner of education and it is therefore the subject
towards various policy and the legislative directives from the perspectives of the state, private and
common wealth. The aim of the legislation has been aimed and developed for helping the students
and the parents to navigate the legislations that is regarding the education in the way that they can
participate in the revision and the application regarding the education.
