Assessment of the Patient
In the assessment part of the diabetes patient, there are a few steps and they are-
At first history of the patient should be collected and in that part, the health
professional will collect information about the food habit of the patient, family
history of diabetes.
Knowledge about the disease and about the prevention of the disease.
The food habit of the patient that can enhance the risk of the disease.
About the smoking behavior of the patient.
Has the patient received any treatment or not?
Checking of blood pressure and urinalysis (Khadori, 2018).

Requirement for Assessment
In the assessment of patient, the history of the patient is important as food habit, life
style is related to the onset of the disease.
The family history is also required as sometimes it is observed that, the disease is
genetic.
The assessment of the blood and cardiovascular system is so much important as the
blood glucose level is very high in this disease and to examine the severity of the
disease assessment of the blood glucose level is very crucial.
Urinalysis is required to check any infection in the urinary tract of the patients.
Sometimes, in diabetic patients eyes are also assessed to check cataract formation and
onset of glaucoma (Khadori, 2018).
