INTRODUCTION
The management style is defined as a particular ways or method by which manager and
leader accomplish their objectives and goals. Management style also undertake methods which
encompasses an organisation to make effective decisions through planning and organising the
work in systematic steps for accomplishing organisational goals and objectives in an organised
manner. Management style deviate or vary as per business conditions, level of management and
as per proprietor requirement. Moreover, management is defined as an art of getting and
gathering all employee's at a similar platform for extracting best and effective results from
employee's efforts. Management style leads an organisation to generate and decide the strong and
transparent system which helps to generate all employee's as a single unit (Almas, 2016). This
report is written from the perspective of British American Tobacco and it is a multi-category
consumer products organisation which deals in Tobacco and nicotine products to millions of
adults consumers at world wide level. From several decades organisation build and expand
business by meeting with adult smoker for managing and leading the market of cigarette brands,
superior products and nicotine products. Further, this report highlights on management style and
the principle as well as functions of management that are implemented by CEO of British
American Tobacco. Organisation culture and structure of British American Tobacco to improve
the performance of business and their impact on employee's will also be focused in the report.
Leadership style adopted by CEO of British American Tobacco to improve organisation
effectiveness is analysed to understand and improve the work methods of employee's. Power,
conflicts and it's influence on the business of British American Tobacco will also focuses in the
report to manage work with more efficiency. Motivation plays an important role that directly

British American Tobacco
British American Tobacco is a multi-national organisation which sell and manufacture
tobacco and cigarettes. It is a global tobacco organisation that operate more than 200 different
brands to deal in a larger market. Diversity related issue is one of the major challenge which is
faced by British American Tobacco. So CEO of respective organisation is focused to design,
develop and adopt democratic leadership style because it leads management to solve different
issue related with workforce (Doster, 2016). This is because democratic leader motivate and
enhance morale of employee's by understanding their needs and wants. Democratic style is also
effective for British American Tobacco because it enhance individual performance by analysing
their capabilities and skills. Organisation adopt changes to work and adopt methods that is used
to design solution for overcome from the problem of workforce issue.
Management principle
The term management principle is defined as the guideline which is used for generating
effective decisions and action of leaders. Some management style principle to work with
organisation is implemented for accomplishing high growth in market.
 Ethical leadership- In the present scenario, competition among organisation is too high
and complex due to which management are not focused to complete their work
according to legal actions. Therefore, first principle for an effective management style is
ethical leadership and it aids the organisation to achieve its primary objectives. British
American Tobacco develop positive leadership style as it helps in building positive
leadership, behaviour and values (Ghiotti and Boldrini, 2016). Better leadership develop
strong communities, organisation and business in order to implement principle that guide
workers to inspire and prepare individuals for managing work with better results.
 Leading people and managing task- British American Tobacco is managing work at a
large level so they manage and oversee large number of teams, multiple activities and
projects and various challenges. Therefore, leading individuals and managing task
principle is an important aspect for leader that helps in completion of task with a
successful approach. Moreover, to support all demands leaders organise or arrange

training and development aspects which leads individuals to work according to company
practices.
Functions of management style
CEO of British American Tobacco face or interact with different personalities on each
day basis. So an effective leader must develop an appropriate leadership style that motivate or
inspire others to manage and complete task in an appropriate manner. Some functions that are
performed under the guidance of CEO is mention as follow:
 Planning and organising- Strategic planning is an important aspect that leads
organisation to move and scale the business at top position through developing a
competitive-edge for organisation. Mr. Jack Marie Henry is focused to develop strategy
and tactics that change management perspective for employee's because diversity among
employee's is generating challenges for organisation to work with in an organised manner
(Humm, Keefe and Gibson, 2014). On other side, CEO also develop plan that are long
term for this management is focused to implement long term plan for the business.
 Leading and controlling- British American Tobacco perform control and leads the
management to perform their work with undertaking all controlled action and activities.
This leads organisation for controlling all operations as it helps to complete all work
according to decided goals and objectives. Example- Diversity issue is a major challenge
for organisation to perform work as per decided vision and mission.

performance and province of organisation culture at British American Tobacco with their
impacts on workforce
Quality of individuals or people is the major reason for our group as it leads management
to grow and perform work with continuity. From the perspective of BAT individual or people
matter and as per reputation of individuals employee's provide better value to an organisation. It
also enable the person to attract best people with high capabilities. Investment among person is
the employee's culture leads management to perform their work with more efficiency and
effectiveness. In the present most of the people think that business is a complex factor to manage
and control (Humm, Keefe and Gibson, 2014). But by implement of an organised culture and
structure it is easy to work with future aspects that makes a person more potential. Clan culture
is implemented by British American Tobacco as it helps to share commonalities and see each

worker as an member of family. Active persons are involved by the management of respective
organisation and this helps in developing an appropriate form of mentorship because leaders are
already aware about requirements of workforce. Moreover, values are rooted by authorities
among team-members through generating a transparent communication system. It leads
management to build effective relationship that make transparent system for managing work with
appropriate and attractive aspects among environment. It impacts on workforce as employee's
overview all members at same level and treat each other on equally basis. So clan culture is
appropriate for the BAT to complete their work with more efficiency.
Organisation structure
BAT's organisation structure is segmented by organisation on four different geographical
basis or region. America, Asia-specific, Western and Eastern Europe and Middle East.
Organisation restructure their region with four to five different areas. All areas are managed and
controlled by British American Tobacco association from it's headquarter that is situated in
London (Joossens and Gilmore, 2014). This is already stated that BAT is offering their products
at large level so divisional organisation structure manage and operate their division that control
all resources and it is essential for organisation to analyse, operate and understand business
perspective for dividing and delegating them into different departments. Each division work with
their own marketing, sales and technology team. Divisional structure work well and this leads
management to arrange and organise all work of larger companies. This also empower
employee's to deal with decision making as all work is completed with submitting report to
individual executive. Division is separated by market, customer and industry and as per
consumer goods company such as Walmart or Target, formulate products that might help for
clothing, electronics and furniture from food or logistic divisions. It also impacts on organisation
workforce because generate suite and design offerings as per consumer requirements.
C) Leadership style of the CEO of British American Tobacco to improve organisation
effectiveness
Leadership style perform an important role for each business and this helps management
to complete all work and operations in an organised manner (Lewis, Smith and Clement, 2016).
British American Tobacco manage business according to the guidance of CEO as it helps to
revise and manage work according to company performance. This also leads management for
managing task as per individuals skills that revise and manage group of British American

Tobacco to work with company performance. Democratic leadership style is implemented by
CEO because it helps in reflecting values and skills of individuals that leads management in
managing and completing work according to owners requirements. With analysis of organisation
approach management include learning capabilities that inspire persons to work with individuals
as per strong individual and focus.

that keep all things simple as intuitive. It makes a lot of sense that provide more streamlined

Union policies it is identified that this is mandatory for organisation to favour and generate
corporate interest with emphasising on the economic factors of organisation. With the study of
all factors and corporations management particularly generate interest to influence work
approach as per European requirements. This is also identified by management that industry
perform an important role to work with company system and as per analysis of Tobacco
Industry perspective for European policy perspective. BAT analyse and access health impacts
which makes corporation more effective. Jack Bowles hold the power of British American
Tobacco because it bring better experience for management and leadership because it helps to
develop effective roles for employee's (Peari, 2016). With analysis of power it is identified that
one of the major issue which is related with employee's performance is the diversity. So with the
implement of power aspects this is analyse by management that British American Tobacco

organisation generate effective results which helps to appoint and build system that are useful for
effective decision-making.
According to the rule of 13p-1 it is understand by market that US security exchange act,
file and relate business decisions which helps to ensure and exchange all details that is related
with substances which is used to make Tobacco products. So to overcome from this management
prefer to implement aspects that is used in making perspective as it leads individuals in
implementing ideas that are innovative to transform. Moreover, diverse employee's generate
conflicts because it is difficult to rely and worry on different perspective as it leads to manage
challenges with transformation of journey perspective. On other side, diverse organisation make
success that leads to complete work in a consistent manner. BAT management face challenges
due to workforce conflicts because it articulate different system that make a business more
conductive (Peeters and Gilmore, 2015). The impact to change behaviour of employee's define
management face challenges to manage strategy and vision that transformation individuals
behaviour and motivate them to work as per policies.
In the last, CEO adopt democratic leadership style because it helps leaders to influence
individuals that makes and compile effective strategy as it is important to deliver and spirit
persons to work with integrity. Power and conflicts are two inter-related aspects like, if an
individual who is wrong power than it is complex to conduct standard with work. On the other
side, policy cover area which influence individuals for working with financial perspective that
makes a person to engage articulates which is appropriate for transparency, integrity and
openness. It also generate commitment for individuals as BAT is considered and committed to

are two major issue which is faced by BAT authorities. Some motivation techniques to overcome
from challenges are mention as follow:

generate complexity for BAT to manage and perform their work in and organise manner.
Moreover, employee's are also not motivated because gaols are long term and go for years so
with achievement of small goals it is easy for individuals to improve morale. Similarly, with the

the other side, reward are also offered to individuals on weekly basis as it leads workforce to

Transparent- Individuals or workforce is more committed if British American Tobacco
management implement transparent and flexible policy. This define that the level of organisation
is increasing with rapid speed as each employee's easily perform their work which leads
individual to complete work with transparency by making decisions that directs company to
sustain and implement efforts for a longer period. On the other side, employee's are also
motivated with transparent aspects because it demonstrate to workers that all employee's are
treated with equality it increase and enhance work performance of employee's it also leads
workforce to obtain loyalty and pride.
Prioritize work-life balance- Incentives or monetary rewards is an important aspect
which is leading individuals to gain motivation. But as per current conditions it is complex for
employee's and British American Tobacco to manage proper work life balance. So authorities is
focused to work with techniques that manage individual priority to work with work-life balance.
It results this is easy for persons to work with productivity and happiness at workplace.

Workplace planning is defined as an essential aspect for organisation that leads individual
to work with competitive-edge. MNC organisation which are performing their work at global
level leads management to manage and complete task for managing work at global level. TESCO
is a large corporation but it face challenges because employee's are not motivated to work due to
diversity. This is because top authorities of TESCO provide rates wages to the workforce which
is not engaged in organisation work (Robichaud, Seidenberg and Byron, 2019). Employee's
perform an important role but if management doesn't provide similar rights and pay to
employee's for the same job role than it is difficult for individuals to work with proper
motivation.

To understand the performance related with workforce planning it is identified that
management work with understand of individual needs. This repair all persons to operate and
train the persons by adequate number which promote and prepare workforce for determine as
well as analyse work with depended areas. Another, example relates with British American
Tobacco because it manage and arrange benefits for workforce planning to hire and serve needs
of individuals that deal with diversity aspects of workforce.

BAT is already one of the well-recognised organisation that perform business at a global
level. Along with this management also earn a lot of profits from the sale of it's products but as
per existing situation of market it is complex to work with benefits. Another perspective that
make a organisation more attractive help for hiring persons to hamper ability that thrive boom
cycles. Some recommendation for British American Tobacco depends on the perspective which
is used for planning and forecasting need of individuals with motive of staff that makes a
business more perspective. Employee's problems is one of the major challenge for organisation
and according to workforce this is related with needs and wants of persons. Diversity among
employee's is the first problem which is generating issue for management. So the
recommendation for British American Tobacco is to plan and understand needs of individuals
which is used to solve problems of business (Rushforth, Sommarstrom and Wormald, 2015).
Equality perspective is an important aspects and as per situations of BTA it is identified that
management implement equality among all departments. This results management complete their
work as per possibilities which leads to obtain more success by offering similar opportunities to
all workers.

of the organisation. Democratic style is one of the most effective approach that leads individuals
