Introduction
 This presentation aims to provide a comprehensive
human resource management study of an organization
that operates in the service producing sector in Northern
B.C.
 The study is mainly focused on the operations of the
chosen company, Shoppers Drug Mart.
 The presentation also provides an insight on front-line
jobs on the industry.
 It also discusses the challenges of employers in hiring
employees.

Company Overview
 Shoppers Drug Mart is a Canadian Pharmacy Chain
situated in Ontario, Canada, The US
(shoppersdrugmart.ca 2019).
 Murray Koffler, owner of Super-Pharm Pharmacy,
founded the company in 1962
(corporate.shoppersdrugmart.ca, 2019).
 Shoppers Drug Mart have around 1300 stores
functioning in nine provinces and two territories including
Quebec.
 The company expanded to 50 stores in Ontario, after
merging with nearly 33 drugstores in 1968.
 The organization founded about 1300 locations across
Canada by 2016.

Industry Overview
 Pharmacies can be considered as an intrinsic part
of pharmaceutical services of a community that
provide easy healthcare services to people
(Colgan & Beacher, 2015).
 Pharmacies provide over-the-counter medical
aids, helps in monitoring and screening blood
pressure, diabetes and hypertension (Murray,
2016).
 This industry and the company is important in
Northern B.C. as it is essential to understand if
Canadians has immediate access to such
pharmacies.
