In the end of December 2019, China reported an outbreak of novel coronavirus
which spread internationally within short period of time.SARS-CoV-2 or severe acute
respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (COVID-19) has been declared as pandemic by
World Health Organization (WHO).Over all cases of corona virus has hyped up to
more than 1,900,000and around 118,507 people’s have died of respiratory issues
and pneumonia caused by the virus globally. As this is a new stain of coronavirus
the world governments has no mechanism to prevent the populations or cure the
disease. As the virus is transferable from one individual to the other, to stop it from
spreading, governments are issuing a lockdown situation at almost every part of the
globe which has completely halted the world economy. Due to the pandemic the
globe could bear an estimated loss of $1 trillion due to economic slowdown. As per
the St. Louis Fed projection an expected of 47 million people might loss there job as
the private companies are very likely to go cash less in 3 months.
The past tells us that we have been struck by pandemic earlier as well but the world
was ready for the consequences up to some extent. In the year 2009 H1N1 swine
flu killed billions of people during a period of a year. But during the swine flu
outbreak governments recognised it in early stages and quickly started to work on
its vaccines, which soon reached medical experts but in case of coronavirus the
medicine has expected to be made within 12 to 24 months and the world has
already lacking in basic facilities. Comparing both swine flu and coronavirus the
spread rate in the COVID-19 is far to great and the death rate is at 2% and expected
to rise.
