ASSIGNMENT

INTRODUCTION
Human resource is a core department of organization which recruits employees for the
actual working in it and helps in achievement of the company's goal in a better and efficient way.
Motivation is something related to enhancement of employees performance within the
organization. It is the company's responsibility to motivate its employees so that they can put
their more efforts and gives best to the company. In this assignment a research discussed about
some theories of motivation which company's employee in their organization. Maslow Need of
Hierarchy and Herzberg two factors theory is taken into consideration for analysis the level of
motivation of employees. These two theories are applied in TESCO company which is UK based
and operated multinationally. (Alamand, Raut-Roy, U., 2019)
TASK
HR refers to the most important resource of any company that is Human Resource which
decides what to recruit, whom to recruit, and at what post to recruit. It is a separate department in
any organization which employees personal for the smooth working of the company. (Beltrán-
Martín, and Bou-Llusar, J.C., 2018)
Motivation refers to the phenomenon which allows an individual to work with greater
efficiency with more hard work in order to either gain more profit or to receive recognition.
Motivation can be of any nature that is either positive or negative. Positive motivation leads
employee feel satisfied and increases efficiency in work whereas negative is just opposite to
positive. In negative motivation employee feel dissatisfied and losses his efficiency in work.

MASLOW NEED HIERARCHY THEORY OF MOTIVATION
Maslow need hierarchy theory of motivation which comprises of five different stages to
which every employee tries to attain. Each stage is attained by fulfilling previous one. Step by
step is achieved by an individual in order to gain motivation. The five stages includes
Psychological needs followed by Safety needs, Social needs(love and belonging), Esteem Needs
and ends at Self-Actualization need where an individual is motivated up to his extent and does
not wishes more. (Dweck, 2017)

HERZBERG TWO-WAY THEORY OF MOTIVATION
According to this theory there is a presence of two factors which motivates an employee
to work with more efficiency for the organization in order to attain company's objectives and
goals. These two factors are Motivation and another is Hygiene Factor. Motivation factors refers
to the factor which comes internally in an individual which enlightens inner voice to work more
harder for the organization. Whereas, Hygiene factor refers to several elements which motivates
an employee such as security, status, salary increment etc. (Kotni, and Wechtler, H., 2018)
