Introduction
Problem statement
Most of the organizations in the world are publicly and privately owned. They are required to
train members so that they achieve their career goals. Managers prepare employees for future
leadership management in the global world. Most literature reviews examining organizational
leadership shows that leadership has high influence on staffs’ achievement, organizational
performance, team work and self-productivity. Khoshhal & Guraya,(2016), argued that
leadership has a direct relationship with the employees’ performance and organizational culture.
Therefore this literature aims to determine the impacts of leaders and leadership styles on
employees on career achievement and long term organizational performance. The article has
been compiled using database searches, library searches, and Google scholar search. Keywords
used are leadership, organizational culture and leadership style (Chuang, 2015).

Organization culture
Organization culture is viewed in two models. The traditional approach defines the organization
as a system of intelligence and power from the top to control and commands from the bottom.
According to a study by Sandra (2012), benefits that staffs get from managers have been
identified, but leadership learning influencing organizational culture has not been discussed.
Another model is organizational leadership which is seen as a collaboration and cooperation in
which better ideas develop from each level. Better ideas develop only when leaders’ actions
motivate other people to portray their capabilities (Ejimabo, 2015).
Two years ago, the public and legislators have been encouraging companies to practice an
inclusive leadership style rather than giving directives to the employees. Leadership restructuring
have been focused to enhance employees and management achievements and organizations
improvement. People need information on administration and leadership skills for them to
achieve their goals. In order to achieve these objectives, organization leadership should
emphasize on promoting positive organizational behaviour. According to Middlehurst (2015),
organization behaviour is the application of scientific administrative activities that require an
understanding of knowledge of individual behavior in cultural and social life. The hypothesis
showed that leadership influence employees’ performance, achievement and maintaining
organization and organizational relationships.
Leadership styles
A review of leadership style showed that there are various leadership styles that bring success in

Great Leader & Organization Inspiration 7
a) Transformation leadership
This style is more effective compared to the transactional style of leadership. Transformational
leadership according to Guardian (2013), involves three dimensions i.e. charisma, intellectual
stimulation and individual consideration. This style enhances employees and organization by
improving values, motivating them to work hard to achieve organizational goals. Compared to
other styles, transformational style achieves objectives interfering with followers’ motives or HR
within the firm. Transactional style does not involve changes of organizational culture while
transformational involve change of culture to allow it to be effective (Bura, 2016).
Considering the impact of transformational style of leadership to employees’ achievement,
managers are always responsible for staffs’ success but this effect is indirect (Considine, 2011).
It was found that the management contribute to employees’ success indirectly by providing
leadership at the organization and personal performance. Florida, (2015), analyzed database data
to examine the link between staff achievement and leadership. 200 organizations and 1000
managers were interviewed and staff’s performance was measured using four grades. A Likert
scale with 6-point response was used to collect data i.e. strongly agree to strongly disagree.
Results showed that staffs’ achievement is affected by leadership contributions in terms of
commitment, collective and capacities whereas indirect benefits were limited.
b) Organic leadership
According to Mullins & Linehan (2005), organic leadership is a change of conventional and
hierarchical practice of control where staffs are involved actively in organizational decisions and
cooperation. Decision making, staff cooperation, and collegiality supplant the hierarchy as a

means of coordinating workflows and resolving technical uncertainties, and supportive forms of
administrative leadership emerge to facilitate line employees’ work.
Jack, (2017), analyzed the growth of staffs and organic management towards their success using
data items of longitudinal data. Over 3000 staffs and 80 organizations were interviewed. A six-
point scale was used and the results showed that organic management measures of staff
cooperation and leadership did not affect staff achievement.
Direct and indirect benefits of leadership in organization
Individuals found out that managers alone cannot lead due to the complexity of leadership skills
required to perform tasks and cannot be achieved by one person. Coordination is required
between organizations and communities to enable attain high achievement. Managers find it
difficult to lead alone, therefore, leadership teams are required as part of the improvement
process. Four years ago, the US has observed changes in activities in an organization.
Management who spent time with employees were allocated funds to motivate them (Burke, et
al., 2007). Models of development were meant to implement leadership methods e.g. involving
all stakeholders to play important roles in organization structure, decision making and
performance. In a study by Amanchukwu, et al., (2015) involving eight organizational with over
2000 employees on achievement and leadership found out that when the management collaborate
and models implemented, the results are an increase in employees’ performance and organization
achievement.
Leadership characteristics on individual achievement
Considering the fact that kinds of leadership traits improve the achievement of individuals.
Sandra, (2012), carried out a qualitative study in public companies. 20 staffs were interviewed
and workplace observation also was done to identify information on the manager and staff
means of coordinating workflows and resolving technical uncertainties, and supportive forms of

relationships. From the findings, it shows that even though leadership is important in changing
the process of organization, a direct effect on staff achievement and leadership remains unproven
and unclear. Mullins & Linehan (2005), examined from the study that management leadership
does not affect staff growth while investigations on transformational leadership show a strong
impact on staff success. He recommends that effects are indirect and are initiated by the
management.
Conclusion
The results from these articles showed organization leadership has both direct and indirect
benefits of the employees’ success since they prepare and nurture conditions for personal growth
and development while maintaining a good relationship with all the stakeholders in the company
setup. Leadership plays a direct role in organizational culture and individual achievement.
Getting direct effects on organization leadership is difficult to measure since a lot of variables
relate to organization leaders and managers. Transformational style of leadership leads to
instructional leadership for improving individual success. The review of leadership and the
impacts of individual achievement has identified that successful leaders possess some traits
which improve organizations as well as individual growth. More success is as a result of
collaboration between the management, employees, other stakeholders and community and
having a conducive environment to work in. Therefore more studies on organizational leadership
on individual performance; success and improvement need to be done. This will help gain more
information on constructs and values that affect organization leadership and managers.
