The client of thisproject was the UAE Armed Force. The total cost of this project was AED 180 million. The AlJaber Road and Transport subdivision is known for delivering high quality infrastructure andconstruction projects. The scope of the project included construction of a new runway andinstallation of latest technologies for the landing of fighter jets. This project was also about usinglatest technologies for developing a remote controlling system for the Military Airbase project.The subcontractor of this project was Bayant Engineering. CE 3.2.2 Objectives developed for the projectThe main objectives of this project were:To improve the runway infrastructure of the Military Airbase of the UAE ArmedForce

To install advanced technological aspects to the runway for assisting the dronesand fighter jetsTo automate the landing systems in visual meteorological conditions forpreventing accidentsCE 3.2.3 My area of workI was assigned as the planning engineer under the project control team of Al Jaber Roadsand Transport, and I had to apply my knowledge of engineer and project management together tothe field as I have done my Master’s in Project Management. I had to assist the Senior PlanningEngineer and the Project Control Manager with reports on a monthly and weekly basis and myarea of work was confined to the electronic and electrical system, installation of advancedtechnologies to the military runway and integrated networking. I had to study the workingprinciples of all the required components such as radar and automated landing system. I had tomake sure that we deliver an economically viable and safe project for the UAE Armed Forces. Ihad to work under the supervision of the project control team. I had to supervise the activities ofthe team members, coordinate with the construction team, monitor the progress of work, preparedocuments, provide control measures, create baseline schedules and sequence the projectactivities. One of my main areas of work was to mitigate any design issue and raise requests forthe required information.

I was responsible for updating the baseline schedule according to the as-builtconditions. I had to make the procurement plan by considering the budget of the project. I had tomake technical plans and prepare the technical reports based on the project outcome and testing.I had carried out research work for getting an insight into the detailed requirements of theproject. I was responsible for preparing a schedule of all the items that were needed to beprocured. It was my responsibility to prepare project documents after reviewing the detaileddesigns and technical specifications. I had to understand and carry out an analysis of thetechnical aspects of the project. I was also responsible for modifying the given design afterconsulting with the technical team. I had to track the site activities and report to the Senior
