Business overviewGoalsThe goal of the project is to develop and deploy an automated information system for the overallmanagement of Monash Video Library. Business ObjectivesThe primary objectives of the project are as listed below:Ability to design and develop an information system for the library that may mange all ofthe library operations and customer services.Ability to complete the project in the budget and time-period that has been allocated to it.Ability to gain maximum revenues and customer trust with the aid of the project. Current Business Situation and ProblemsThe current system that is being followed at the library has a lot many flaws in terms ofoperations and management. It is not possible for the management to keep a track of themembers and the videos that are borrowed by them. Management of loans has also becomedifficult to track with the increase in the number of members. GapsDue to the issues in the current system, the members are beginning to look out for similarbusiness units in the area. It is due to the reason that they are not satisfied by the services that arebeing provided to them which leads to deterioration of revenues for the organization. OpportunitiesAn automated library management system that has been proposed will be able to bring back thereduced customer trust and will lead to higher profits and competitive advantage. Data gathering & Data AnalysisQuestionnaire: The technique will allow the project team members to extract theinformation from the project stakeholders regarding their expectation from the system. Aset of questions will be provided to them and their response will be received on the same(Chaleunvong, 2009). Interviews: The project team may also arrange interview sessions with the projectstakeholders, such as, library owner and management team so that they may bring3

forwards their concerns with the current system and their expectations from the newsystem. Brainstorming Sessions: There may also be group sessions executed to bring out the newconcepts and ideas and gather maximum information (Morgan and Harmon, 2011).Automated data analytics tools: These tools may be used by the project team members forautomatic analysis of the data and information that is collected using the above threetechniques.
