About British broadcasting corporation (BBC)
BBC news network is basically a British public service broadcaster and was founded
in the year 1922 by John Reith. This is the world’s oldest national broadcasting organization
with the largest number of employees that is around 20,916. The services provided by the
BBC includes news through television, radio, online streaming, BritBox and other sources.
From the news and journals published on the working of BBC it is clear that BBC is the
reliable source of news. This is the oldest broadcasting media and has seen a lot of changes
throughout this years. According to the survey made it was polled that more than 62%
population of UK believes that BBC delivers accurate and reliable news (Belair-Gagnon,
Valerie 4). Apart from these more than half of the population stated that the news broadcasted
by BBC is unbiased. Moreover the population can trust on the news delivered by BBC and
this are accurate and not biased. However few people has raised question against the sources
provided by the news channel in case of politics. Few thinks that the news channel is political
biased (Hill, John 198). However in response to this accusations the cultural secretary stated
that he will assess the working of the BBC only after clear evidence. Thus, in every services
provided by the BBC it has been treated as the most trustworthy source of news. Even
according to the polls made BBC radio is highly accessed by the people that other
commercial sources.
Social media as a source of news
With the enhancement in technology it is being observed that over 1 billion users are
accessing Facebook and are active users, more than millions of active members are associated
with YouTube and twitter. Thus, it can be stated that social media is an important platform to
share news or information. However it is seen that more than half of news spread over the
main social networks are fake and baseless. People starts reacting to each news so promptly
