Assessment Task 1
1. Based on the case study information, discuss quality management theory as it would apply to
this project
Quality management is referred as the act of overseeing all the task and activities which

management is the management theory to long-term success by customer satisfaction. It helps in
improving processes of the organisation and offering better quality goods and services to
consumers. According to the provided case study of John Readings Pvt. Ltd., it is a book
publisher, distributor of Australia and has retail businesses with stores situated throughout the

value, better cost management and improved customer satisfaction and focus. Thus, total quality
management is an appropriate approach in order to bring improvements in the current café
design, minimise business disruption and enhance its performance.

outline three relevant standards that would apply
According to the provided case study of John Readings Pvt. Ltd., the requirement of
organisation is to refresh and upgrade the current design of its retail outlets which includes fresh
menu, layout design, new furniture and play area for children. In order to ensure fulfilment of
these requirements, the CEO of the organisation has advised that the products purchased for
playground and cafe will mitigate the safety and quality standards. Apart from this, there are
some relevant standards that would be apply to fulfil the requirements of organisation. These
standards include process approach, improvement and customer focus. The primary emphasis of
the Customer focus quality management principle is to mitigate the needs of customers as well as
strive to exceed their expectations. According to the ISO 9000:2015 standard, the key benefit of
customer focus is to increase the customer value, enhance customer satisfaction, improve their
loyalty towards organisation, expansion of customer base, increased reputation of business and
increase in revenue. It is required by the organisation to ensure that its objectives are linked to
the needs and expectations of customers.
The another standard that would apply in the project is process approach. Predictable and
consistent outcomes are accomplished more effectively when the activities are understood as
well as managed as interrelated processes which functions as coherent system. The quality
management system is made of interrelated processes and proper understanding of the way
results are developed by system involving all the resources, processes, interactions and controls
enable business to optimise its performance. The main benefits of applying this principle as per
ISO 9000:2015, it improves the ability to emphasize effort on main processes and opportunities

the processes and understand the capabilities of organisation and determine resource constraints
before taking any action.
