Task 1 Consider the organisation you are working for or, alternately your current status as a TAFE
student and outline a proposed scope of sustainability policy
Answer :
Sustainability defines the interaction between few components like environment, economy and social
equity. Therefore, sustainability development policies must be applied throughout the company to make a
balance between the three components. For implementing sustainable development policies in the
company first an analysis of the stakeholders should be done then the objectives of the policies should be
set. At last, the plan should be executed. There should be efficient and effective use of resources in the
company like electricity, water, transport and this must be supervised. Along with this, the use of
resources must be audited and a plan should be delivered to use these resources (Tillmar, Elg, Klofsten, &
Ellstrom, 2015).
Task 2 Discuss how you will gather information from a range of sources to plan and develop policy
Answer:
To implement the sustainable development policies it is necessary to gather information on the methods
and approaches, legal and regulatory environment and strategies used to plan the policy. This information
can be gathered by the company’s websites or by social gatherings. The individuals should have a full
knowledge of the policy. The data gathered will help in recognising the issues and measures to improve
the policy can be taken and planned (Mizell, 2005).
Task 3 Consider the organisation you are working for or, alternately your current status as a TAFE
student an identify and consult stakeholders as a key component of the policy development process
Answer:
The stakeholders will include the students, the staff, the investors, and the local community along with the
management of the company. The stakeholders are the key components of the policy development
process as the stakeholders allow incorporating methodologies which are required to implement the

company people (Weekes, 2017).
Task 4 Discuss appropriate strategies in policy at all stages of work for minimising resource use,
reducing toxic material and hazardous chemical use and employing life cycle management approaches
Answer: Many different types of strategies are taken into consideration in sustainable policy at all stages
of work for minimising resource use, reducing toxic materials and hazardous chemical use. Life
cycle management approaches are implemented which looks at various aspects like makers,
retailers, budgets, etc. The staff can be divided into multiple teams and each team can look after
one aspect of the policy. Along with this, the life cycle management should be in a way that it
involves all stakeholders and it implements the aspects of the policy (Schal, 2010).
Task 5 Make recommendations for policy options based on likely effectiveness, timeframes and cost
Answer: Based on the effectiveness, timeframes and cost, the following areas should be considered.
 What is the cost of implementing the policies?
 What type of training will be required?
 What is the time of cost recovery?
 Do the new policies fit in the organisation’s strategic plan?
Different types of surveys and questionnaires can be used to check the scope of the sustainable
development policy. These proposals will be considered with respect to water, control and reuse. The
water resource should be checked on timely basis to control the wastage of water. The power can be
controlled by switching off the power supply when nobody is utilizing it. Apart from this, the resources
can be reused i.e. the waste paper, oil and other reusable resources can be reused easily.
Task 6 Develop policy that reflects the organisation’s commitment to sustainability as an integral part of
business planning and as a business opportunity

The policy must include a Sustainability Statement in which the target should be stated along with the
ways in which it will be achieved. Because it is important to develop policy that reflects the
organisation’s commitment to sustainability as an integral part of business planning and as a business
opportunity. The organisation can easily share its report about the work done along with the strategies and
methodologies on its website. Apart from this, blogs and feedbacks can be taken with the help of surveys.
Articles about the policy can also be distributed in newspapers and on internet.
Task 7 List agree to appropriate methods of implementation, outcomes and performance indicators
The policy can be implemented in the following ways,
1. By giving proper training to the staff on the sustainability policy.
2. By supporting the services on the websites.
3. By promoting detailed documentation on the development of the policy.
The outcomes of the policy should be documented and a brief report of the policy should be forwarded to
the board of directors of the company. The data of the outcome can be examined and new strategies can
be formed accordingly.
The various performance indicators of the policy are:
1. Economic- These indicators involves the company’s turnover, its profit and the quantity of
products sold.
2. Environmental- These indicators involve consumption of water, waste management, and the
power output.
3. Social- These indicators involve stakeholders, labour practices and the issues affecting the
stakeholders (Schal, 2010).
Task 8 Discuss how you will promote workplace sustainability policy, including its expected outcome,
to key stakeholders.
Answer :
Few of the ways in which workplace sustainability policy can be promoted are by newspapers, e-mails,
blogs and articles. Once a policy is planned then it is acknowledged to all the stakeholders before a draft
has been generated so that the stakeholders can easily determine the flaws of the policy and can
implement new strategies to improve it.
A detailed presentation should be giving to the stakeholders discussing the key challenges and outcomes
of the policy. Other ways to promote the policy is by launching the concept on the website and in the
annual meetings.

Task 9 Outline how you will inform those involved in implementing the policy about expected outcomes,
activities to be undertaken and assigned responsibilities
Answer:
It is necessary to improve everybody involved in implementing the policy about the expected outcomes
and activities. If data will be available to all the staff members then they can easily comprehend the
techniques and strategies. If the policy will be discussed in a group more ideas will be generated which
will help in making the policy better.
The various ways by which tis information can be shared is by conducting workshops and social
gatherings. Apart from this, posters can be generated which contains all the information of the policy. The
information can also be shared by means of messages, reports, data sheets, stickers and notification.
Task 10 Develop and communicate procedures to help implement workplace sustainability policy
Answer: When the policy is in the planning and design phase then all the problems which may arise
should be discussed with the higher authorities. Along with this, a key plan of various techniques and
strategies which will be implemented should be defined. After the planning, a detailed report and
presentation should be prepared and must be discussed by the stakeholders.
The procedures can be implemented by meetings and manuals, datasheets, agendas and messages or
updates gatherings. When the feedbacks of the meeting are discussed new strategies are applied to
improve thee policies (Weekes, 2017).
Task 11 Discuss strategies for continuous improvement in resource efficiency
Answer:
Continuous improvement comprises of evaluation and planning of the resources. Continuous
improvement can be achieved by managing the performance, manufacturing and increasing the output.
The different strategies of continuous improvement in resource efficiency are by reviewing the reports,
keeping track of the records and by checking the proficiency.
Task 12 Identify and assign responsibility for recording systems to track continuous improvements in
sustainability approaches
Answer:
To track continuous improvement in sustainability approaches the system must be recorded which
supports structures, reviews and legitimate prerequisites. Along with this, the data must be installed on
the computer and a hard copy should be printed, duplicates of all the data should be organized. The
database which contains the records should be accessed by all the employees to keep them updated.
Task 13 Discuss how you will document outcomes and provide feedback to key personnel and
stakeholders
Answer:
In sustainability policy, the data is not available which can determine the outcomes and results of the
policy. The data can be provided to the stakeholders in the form of graph or presentations, but these charts
do not represent the actual continuous improvement. The data should be graphed in such a way that it
shows the benchmark of the last data i.e. it gets easy to analyse how much improvement is done. With the
help of benchmark targets can be set which represents how much improvement is needed. If the feedback
will be positive it will motivate people to keep trying and eventually they will improve. The motivation
will also help in increasing the performance of the company.

There are many ways of identifying the success of the sustainability policy like,
1. By developing an evaluation blueprint
2. By recognizing the data-collection needs
3. By designing a comprehensive data-collection system
4. By testing the data-collection system
5. By implementing the plan.
Apart from this success can also be identified by examining the following criteria’s,
 By evaluating the systems which are not running easily
 The workforce who tried to achieve the best of the policy
 Understanding the people who are discarding the new methodologies
 Analyzing the changes in the strategies
 Overviewing the new systems and the methodologies (Tillmar, Elg, Klofsten, & Ellstrom, 2015)
To judge the success of the policy look for the data records and analyze the work of each and every
individual.
Task 15 Outline how you will monitor records to identify trends that may require remedial action and use
to promote continuous improvement of performance
Answer:
To monitor the records to identify trends following steps are taken into consideration,
1. By choosing a limited set of effective measures
2. By developing the report formats
3. By determining the schedule for regular reports
4. By recognising procedure on the identified problems
The records are monitored on the basis of following standards,
 Transparency- the documents should be transparent and must have detailed information
 Accuracy- the data in the report must be accurate
 Consistency- the data of the report should be consistent
By monitoring these records, it also gets easy promote the continuous improvement of performance
because if the policy matches all the criteria’s the company will be benefited and hence the employees
will get motivated.

Task 16 Discuss how you will review and modify, policy and or procedures as required to ensure
improvements are made.
Answer :
It is very necessary to review and modify the policies and procedures to ensure that improvements are
made in the organization. Once the documentation of the policy is done it should be reviewed according
to the legislative changes. On discussing it with the other employee’s new ideas can be generated to make
it better.
The policies and procedures must meet the organizational requirements and the legislative requirements.
If the policies do not meet any of the criteria is has to be reviewed and then must be modified according
to the changes. The ideas should be triggered and new thoughts according to the approaches must be
implemented to enhance the organization’s arrangements and methodology.
The administrator should be able to talk to the individuals and ask them about the improvements and must
motivate them to execute the changes.
