1‘BUILDING’ A CITY
A city is not simply the accumulation of different types of buildings. For a
civilization to be properly functional, it is important to take in to consideration all of
its constituent units. One of the main and essential unit of a society are the people
who make up such a society. Furthermore, the customs and traditions of such a
society is a resultant of the behavior and out look of such individuals. This essay tries
to understand how a city is built. In this respect, the essay takes in to cognizance the
different values and institutions that drive the creation of the urban environment.
The city of Boston is considered to the oldest most city of the United States of
America. This city was initially founded by the Puritans who came from England
during the seventeenth century (Vrabel, 2014). Boston is the centre place for the
occurrence of many historical events such as those of the American Revolution, the
event of Boston massacre, the Siege of Boston as well as the Boston Tea Party
(Bagley, 2016). All of these important historical events gave a character to Boston
which has made this city quite unique in the eyes of the entire international
community.
The ‘building’ of a city depends on a number of factors. One of the most
significant manner in which a city is ‘built’ is with respect to the assurance of a decent
standard of living of the people concerned (Adler, Glymour & Fielding, 2016). In this
