About This Document

This study explores the elements and systems of a reinforced concrete building, including the footing system, structural system, floor system, wall system, roofing system, and more. It discusses the design and construction process, as well as the materials used. The study also covers the management of stormwater, fire systems, and energy efficiency in buildings.

Introduction

The strength of the building is purely influenced by the type of the materials used in each and
every element. The study has particularly identified specific elements of reinforced concrete
building (Porwal and Hewage 2013).
Footing System
The footing system of the reinforced concrete building is refered to as the component of the
structure which is considered to have responsibility for the load transfer from the building down
the foundation. The footing system design ensure the loads of the structure are perfectly
transmitted in a manner that is somehow economical the subsoil.. From the picture shown
below, the utilization of the open footing system has been achieved. That is why this foundation
type is being defined as the open foundation since in the picture, excavation have been made
prior to the footing construction (Fatahi and Tabatabaiefar 2013). So it means that in the earlier
stage of the construction the whole system of the footing was clearly visible to the eye.
The open footing system application is a clear explanation that the soil type in an area is very
stable meaning that to some extend it is made up of geological rocky structure. From the picture,
use of the raft system has been illustrated. The raft is applied so as to ensure the equal loads
distribution. This is because the building is subjected to the dead loads as well as to the live
loads; therefore the larger base is there to ensure the load is reduced per unit area.

reason the steel reinforced concrete has gained high popularity. A part from that, the steel bars
also increases the strength. Therefore it is a suitable material for different applications. From the
identified a reinforced concrete structure, the concrete reinforcement in the period of
construction process always adds tensile strength to the building in particular (Ebeling et al
2013).
This implies that the building is capable of withstanding the weather and time ravages.
Therefore, the breakages as well as the cracking are properly controlled. The concrete reinforced
is one of the structures which connect the members of the frame having footings to the columns.
The columns are also connected to the beams. And the beams are also connected to the floors.
The most types of connections that are exploited here are commonly refered to as the moment
connections. Since two members connect one another firmly (Hokmabadi, Fatahi and Samali
2014).
To overcome the concrete application weaknesses, bars of steel are embedded within the form of
the composite material thus referred to as the concrete reinforced. The system of the frame which
has been adopted in the construction as per the illustration in the picture is known as the steel
reinforced concrete. Therefore this is a specific kind of a structural system which always has
strong steel bars which are added to a wet concrete. The concrete that resulted from such
