INTRODUCTION
Business environment includes all the external & internal factors which affects companies’
structure & policies such as employees, management, government policies, competitors and
market trends. This report gives details of different types of organisations which is private
organisation (Jaguar Land Rover), public organisation (Metropolitan Police) and voluntary
organisation (Oxfam). Further, this report will elaborate purpose & legal structure of these three
organisations.
Furthermore, this report will include scope & size of this organisation. After that this report
explains relationship between functions & objectives of organisation and interrelation among
scope & objective of organisation. In addition, the report will outline different type of
organisational structure and their relationship with organisational functions. Moreover, this
report includes PESTLE & SWOT analysis of Jaguar Land Rover. This repost will also explain
all the macro environmental factors affecting the firm. At last the report analyses external &
internal factors of company and its impact on decision making process of the firm.

P1 Different types and purpose of an organisation and their legal structure
Private Organisation (Jaguar Land Rover)
Private sector organisations are run & controlled by individuals and not by government
with the aim of profit maximisation (Bull and et.al., 2016) Private organisation contributes most
to the economy of the country by giving employment to large number of people. Private
organisations are not controlled by government but they have to follow all the regulations &
guidelines given by government of the country in which it is situated (Pearson, 2017). Main
purpose of operating a private organisation is to earn money and reinvest it for the further
expansion of business.
Jaguar Land Rover is a private organisation which is a multinational car manufacturer
& retailer offers luxury vehicles to all the countries across the world. It is British Brand
headquartered at Whitley, England & Coventry. Aim of company is to manufacture light
weighting electronic vehicles that protect the environment and to encourage individuals to
purchase electronic vehicles.

Purpose of Jaguar Land Rover to become a largest brand in car manufacturing industry
by manufacturing unique designs and to contributing more to the country’s economy by
generating employment and more revenue.
Jaguar Land Rover has a multi-tier legal structure and it follow its governance structure
in a most effective manner. Its Legal structure includes strategic board, Discloser committee,
Audit committee and Remuneration committee.
Public Organisation (Metropolitan Police)
Public Organisations are companies or firm which is owned & controlled by government
not for earning profit but for societies welfare. Purpose of Public organisation is to offer various
public services such as health & safety, education, water, infrastructure, electricity and military
for the welfare of society(Hamilton and Webster, 2018). Most of the funding in this firms are
paid through the taxes collected by government. A public company can be converted into private
company by removing governments control from it and vice versa.
Metropolitan Police is a public organisation which offers safety services to the citizen of
London. It is a police force which enforces laws in UK and perform certain services as to protect
royal families and citizens from the terrorist attacks (Dyllick and Muff 2016).
Purpose of Metropolitan Police is to ensure safety & security of general public of London, to
prevent crime and to enforce the law fairly.
Legal Structure of Metropolitan Police is governed by Mayor of London and it has three
tier structure which includes Her Majesty Inspection of constabulary, Independent Police
Complaints Commission and Directorate of Audit, Risk & Assurance. Mayor of London regulate
this through Mayor's office of policing & crime.
Voluntary Organisation (Oxfam)
Voluntary organisations are independent organisations operated with the aim of welfare
of society and it is a non-profit organisation. This organisation's purpose is to benefit society
without a motive of profit maximisation (Prajogo, 2016). Voluntary organisations contribute to
in the development of country. Charities, Social welfare organisations, Communities groups &
clubs are part of Voluntary organisation.
Oxfam is a non-profit organisation operated by a group of individuals with the aim of
eradicating poverty & disaster relief. The company does not operate with the motive of profit, all
its profits are reinvested in the development of the organisation and its people.

Purpose of Oxfam is to reducing poverty by encouraging people to work & by providing them
employment and disaster relief.
Legal structure of Oxfam has two tier structure which constitute Executive board & Board
of supervisor (Upward and Jones 2016). Executive board execute all the working of the
organisation and also lead supervisors board and appoint the supervisor. Oxfam has 19 affiliates
and 2 public engagement offices.

mobile product.

They provide excellence in their work quality.
They believe in showing unity among management and colleagues and do their work
with responsibility.
Business objective: The objective is to provide the highest business standards possible in the
quality of their cars, products and services to their customers.
Product and services- Jaguar Land Rover currently sells vehicles and advanced car models
under their Jaguar and Land Rover marques. They deal in Luxury vehicles and off-road vehicles.
They have friendly sales and service infrastructure to support their aspirational brands.
Size- According to statistics data of US in January 2019 the market share of Land Rover was
slightly below 3.5 percent and the market share of Jaguar was 1.3 percent.

Scope-Over the next five years the Jaguar Land rover is planning to support 25 projects run by
the British and the International federation of red cross societies. Although international in
scope, the partnership is managed in Britain. There is a project in the UK. Jaguar Land Rover is
donating £2m to BRC's to give support at Home programme, which is intended to reach 13,000
people, primarily in rural areas.
Organisational structure: The Organisational structure of Jaguar Land rover is comprises of
divisional and functional units which are Design, Business Expansion, Quality and automotive
safety, Human Resource and purchasing, Corporate and Strategy, Manufacturing, Legal, PR
communications and Special vehicle operations.
Legal structure:There is separate Legal department of Jaguar Land rover which looks after the
rules, polices, code of conduct of the Company.
Public Company Metropolitan police
Mission -The mission of the Metropolitan Police Department is to safeguard the District of
Columbia and protect its residents and visitors by providing the highest quality of police service
with a commitment to do their work with full compassion and integrity. Through upholding their
city's motto Justitia Omnibus which means Justice for all.
Vision- The vision of the Metropolitan Police is to make London a safer place to live. To be the
best crime fighters. To earn the trust and confidence of every community. To take pride in the
quality of their service.
Core values- The core values of Metropolitan police is to do their work with Professionalism,
Integrity, compassion and courage.
Business objective- To improve their police service to the public through the integration of the
Department's people, technology and business systems (Mellor, 2018). There focus is to reduce
citizen complaints and officer misconduct as well as to improve documentation and uses of force
and field supervision.
Service- The Metropolitan Police Service is formerly responsible for law enforcement in the
Metropolitan Police District, which currently consists of the 32 London boroughs.
Size- The total Police force is 31,075 full-time and special constables’ officers are 2,763. Total
stations are 180. The met police serve more than 80 million people across diverse cities widely
spread over 620 square miles.

living in poverty to food, income security and to provide decent work in a route out of poverty.

grouping employees by specialization ensures a reliable level of departmental
competency (Chang, 2016)

help in increasing Company's efficiency.
Segregating the workforce according to function helps the Jaguar Land rover in clarifying

Disadvantages

in Jaguar Land rover due to management structure of the Company (Chang, 2016).
Employees may underperform or even fail because they have no institutionally
acknowledgement way of communication needs and issues to other functional groups that
may have helped.
