Business Communication
Introduction
Business communication can be defined as the
process of sharing knowledge among people inside
as well as outside an organisation. In simpler
words, it is referred to the way in which the
employees of an organisation interact with each
other to achieve goals and objectives of the
company. The poster identifies various challenges
to an effective communication, strategies to
overcome them and demonstrates awareness of
cultural influences on communication.
Challenges and barriers
There are several barriers to effective
communication that can impact the message that is
being conveyed to the audience. In context to the
bus company, most employees are only fluent in
their regional language, cannot understand the
language of the customers and therefore became
intolerant and rude. They were mostly on their
jobs and visited the main office in the start and end
of their shifts to collect and drop off the keys.
They were stressed about reaching all the
destinations on the allocated time and were not
able to communicate the same to the management
of the organisation. Also, after the initial training
there wasn’t much communication between the
drivers and the senior management of the firm and
there was no system in order to monitor their
performance and provide feedbacks.

communication among them. Also, there are a lot
of barriers to an effective communication and that

References
The firm should be aware of the various cultural
differences between the drivers and customers and
should thus hire more drivers who can speak other
languages as well. The company can also hire
translators who can help solve this problem.
Proper training should be provided to the drivers
initially when they join the firm and in order to
overcome the communication gap, training
sessions should be organized on a regular basis so
that the drivers become fluent in other common
languages like Polish, English etc. as well.
Various methods of communicating visually can
also be used. Also, meetings of the management
and the employees should be organized on regular
intervals so that the employees/drivers receive
feedbacks regarding their performances.
Cultural influences on
communication
Factors like past experiences, cultural background,
perception etc. affect the way in which people
behave and talk with each other.
The drivers should not act rudely with the
customers as this can create a negative impact on
them and thus, they will not consider travelling
with the firm’s buses in the future which can lead
to a bad brand image of the company in the
market.
Culture is also considered an important element in
the business environment. Thus, various policies
concerning cultural influences on communication
should be developed and implemented.
