The report is about the effective business communication in the workplace. It is very
important to have a good communication system at the workplace as it impacts almost each and
every part of the working of the organisation. The report consists of the communication process
that will discuss the main points to consider while trying conveying a message. The positive
impacts of effective business communication are discussed. Barriers to the business
communication are discussed and the solutions are provided to overcome them. The skills
required for the effective communication are also discussed along with the business
communication channels.
MAIN BODY
Importance of the good business communication is important part of the business. The
communication helps in the improvement of the relationship with the employees. Good
relationship with the employees can help the company to rise to new heights. The
communication can build a good team for the organisation. The communication can bring
openness to the employees and the employees can bring new innovative ideas to the company.
The communication can align the company in the direction to achieve the goals with the strong
management. Due to the good and transparent communication the employees will be clear about
their goals and help in the development of the company.
For improving the communication skills it is necessary to learn how to listen. It can be done
by improving how the body language is used in front of the speaker as it effects the how the
listener perceives the speaker (Ter Hoeven and Van Zoonen, 2020, p. 2329488419898799).
Active listening needs to be practiced for developing the communication skill. Active listening
can be done by paraphrasing or summarizing the message. The communication skills can be
improved by speaking in public and understand what is necessary to grab the attention of the
listeners, to the point facts and clear sentences that are easy to understand is more likely to be
listened by the people.
Understanding the barriers to the communication is the elements that can be considered to
be important. It is important to have the knowledge about the barriers to the communication
before finding out the solutions for them. Some barriers like inadequate knowledge may be
responsible for the ineffective communication at the workplace. The employees and the
managers at the organisation can have different perceptions that may create the chances of

conflicts and unnecessary arguments (Phelps and et.al, 2021. P. 23821205211006411).
Distraction of the employees from getting the message effectively can be considered the
elements that need to have special attention for achieving effective communication.
Reflection is the process in which the personal experience is reflected for learning from the
experience. Reflection can be used to deal with the challenging situations (Sisk and et.al, 2021).
Reflection can be referred as the processing of the thoughts and feeling about a situation or
incident or difficulty to help in processing in terms of the thoughts and feelings. Reflection helps
in giving more focussed and fresh view to react and approach the situation or difficulty next
time.
Gibb’s model of reflection can be used for focusing the thinking and the writing of the
incident. The model consists of six parts that are:
Description – it is where the incident or the difficulty is described to put the reader into the
picture and thinking about it.
Feelings – the reactions, feelings and thoughts about the incident is written down here.
Evaluation- the approaches that were taken during the situation can be evaluated here. The
positive and negative aspects can be written.
Analysis – the examination of the experience in depth is done to identify the key theories, issues
and experiences
Conclusion- the things that are learned from the reflection are summed up here.
Action plan- the practical steps to be taken.
I feel like the communication is a very important part in the workplace and it need to be
excelled at for performing better (Adeani, Febriani and Syafryadin, 2020. Pp. 139-148). The
communication channels need to be chosen according to the needs and requirements of the
organisation. The organisation should start the skill development plans in the organisation for the
employees so that they can do better in the company and this will also lead to better
organisational performance. The barrier to the communication should be considered before
implementing the effective communication plans at the workplace.
