INTRODUCTION
The world and Australian country are experiencing a rapid demographic change. The
foremost example of this change is the expansion of the human population (Cegielski, and Jones‐
Farmer, 2016). Certain other demographic changes have been developed in the world like change
in women fertility. This report covers population trends and factors affecting population trends.
Then it covers demographics impact on the business environment in Australia.
MAIN BODY
Population trends and key components of population growth
The Australian population has reached 22,906,400 populations in Dec 2012. Western
Australia has seen the biggest rise in population at the state and the territory level. There are
components of population change are births, migration and death. As there are two components
of growth in the Australian population: these are
Natural increase is seen through birth and death.
The second is net overseas migration (NOM), this is through net gain and loss of
population through immigration to Australia and out-migration from Australia. This
includes both permanent and long term migration from and out to Australia.
Statistical discrepancies are the changes in population growth and their size. That are
cannot be attributed to demographic movements.
Throughout the world, the population is rapidly increasing (Honeyman, and Jana, 2019).
However, the growth has slowed down in the 20th century. At a country level, population growth
consists of three components these are discussed above. Net interstate migration is referred to the
Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), it is the difference between people who have changed the
location of their usual residence by transferring into the given state and the number of people
who have changed their location by transferring out of that state or territory at a specific period.
This difference can result in positive and negative (Welcome to the Australian Bureau of
Statistics, 2020). Many of the states and territories have experienced positive reports with
Western Australia. Then Net overseas migration was conducted to be the main component of the
population changing and their growth. Western Australia is growing faster as compared to other
