ABSTRACT
In today's era it is considered that business organisations are required to perform with
their utmost skills and competencies in order to achieve pre determined goals and targets.
Businesses are required to communicate with their stakeholders like suppliers, shareholders,
governmental bodies, consumers and others. For this they are required to be very effective and
efficient in communicating their thoughts and ideas. When business communication is devoid of
effective communication, there will be a lot of barriers which will hamper the working
operations and make the goodwill of organisation diminished. To this it becomes necessary to
overcome the barriers by using effective plans.

INTRODUCTION
Business communication can be characterized as an essential component that allows the
individuals providing their services in the organisation to exchange the relevant information
appropriately and efficiently. The report highlights upon the broad theories of the organisational
communication in the Business United. It also focuses on analysing and evaluating the existing
barriers of communication in the respective business firm. The report also emphasises on the
strategic plans that can be adopted by the Business United organisation so as to combat and
overcome the various existing barriers that are hindering the overall performance of the
individuals working in the same.

General theories of Business Communication in the organisation
Weber’s Classic Organizational Theory
The respected theory was propounded by one of the most respected management pioneer
i.e. Max Weber. The theory elaborates that a business organisation should have a systematic and
clearly defines procedures in regard with the duties and responsibilities. Thus, it can be stated
that the prevailing communication in the business organisation follows a hierarchy so as to
facilitate the communication process in a defined and clear manner (Holotiuk and Beimborn,
2017). This also leads to the reductions and elimination of the misunderstanding that may arise
due to errors and disruptions in the communication channels. The organisation has a very stiff
and rigid kind of communicational structure in which every individual has their defines set of
role and they needs to carry out the communication in accordance with the same. The proposed
theory has set of preconceived notions that needs to be accommodate with in order increase the
results and the outcomes associated with implementation of this theory in a business
organisation.
Deetz’s Critical Communication Theory
The concerned theory came into existence through the contribution of Stanley Deetz who
went across the systematic establishes notions of the business organisations and introduced the
new origin that detailed that took into consideration the democratic desires of the individuals and
the authority and powers being centralised in the business organisation. It lays concern over the
fact that the meaning derived from the communication lies in the way the people's way of

expressing themselves and not their respective words. The motive of this theory was identify and
determine the accurate feelings of the managerial staff in order to determine the appropriate ways
of managing the control and communication process of the respective business organisation. This
theory led to the evolution of a new and advanced way of carrying out communication
management so as to balance out the business interest as well as the individual interest in the
organisation (Turner and Endres, 2017). The proposed theory also aims at improving and
encouraging the stability as well as the overall health of the organisation in a consistent and
effective manner. It also leads to the increment of the understanding of the employee interest in
an organisation so as to provide assistance in the better communication and interaction in the
business organisation.
Barriers of Communication in the Business United
Barriers of communication may be termed as the forces that hinders and restricts the
scope of communication in an adverse manner. They can be characterized as negative influence
on the management of the organisation as they restricts the effective communication in the same
which in turn hampers and affects the business operations in an unfavourable manner.
Every organisation has to identify these barriers that restricts their communication so as to
implement the strategies to fight the same. Some of the communicational barriers faced by
Business United are as follows :-
Technical Barrier
The students are taking online classes due to the ongoing pandemic situation on their
phones, tablets, laptops, PC's and other gadgets. Due to the same, Internet connectivity, Wi-Fi
and network issues may arise in between the classes which can act as a barrier to communication
and restrict the flow of (Theuri 2021) communication between the student and respective
individuals teaching the same. Technical Barriers are very common during online classes and the
reason for the same needs to identified in order to solve the technical issues in an appropriate
manner.
Physical Barrier
COVID-19 has restricted the movement and gathering of the individuals in order to
decrease the chances of further spread of the virus among the large number of individuals, This
is one of the primary reasons why most of the universities has been shut down. There are several
students who are not comfortable with online teaching and may not understand the teacher.

Hence, physical barriers can also be considered as one of the major reasons for the ineffective
communication.
Noise Barrier
Noise barrier refer to the unnecessary voices and noises in the background that may dilute
the concentration of an individuals and can break their chain of thought which can ultimately
affect the communication in a negative manner. While taking a class, there are various chances
of unnecessary disturbing elements and noises. These noise barriers also interrupt the teachers
from communicating their part to the students and it can create a lot of fuss and chaos among the
interaction between both the parties i.e. teachers and the students.
Cultural Barrier
There are various cultures and traditions prevailing in the world. Every individual comes
from a different culture and tradition (Cyphert 2021) which means they have a different
languages, thought process, opinions, mindsets, perspectives about different situations in life.
Sometimes these cultural barriers may impose restrictions on the communication between the
students coming from different backgrounds. These barriers also makes it difficult for the
students to interact with each other and enjoy each others company in order to know each other
better (Wang and Hajli, 2017).
Business United's strategies to overcome the barriers of communication
Fun and interactive sessions
In order reduce and eliminate the cultural barriers, teachers can introduce and establish
interactive sessions wherein students can get to know each other and engage with their peers.
This will also give them a break from hectic class schedule and allow them to spend some free
and quality tome with their friends and peers. These fun activit6ies can rejuvenate them and
relax their minds which in turn can help them to concentrate more effectively in the classes and
be more acceptable to the cultures and backgrounds of other students (Wetherill,2018).
Share recorded sessions
Physical barriers can be reduced by sharing the recorded version of the videos to the
students after the completion of the sessions. This will allow the students to revisit the class
again and understand the concepts that they were not able to grasp at the time of the class. This
practice can also act as a revision sessions for the students who like to revise what they have
learnt at a regular basis in order to be up to date with the syllabus.

Peaceful surroundings
In order to reduce the noise barriers, students can be requested to sit at peaceful
surrounding so as to reduce the (Clegg and et. al. 2021 ) unnecessary noises in the background
and to make the communication more effective so that students are able to easily understand the
material taught in the respective class. Peaceful surrounding also facilitates in the enhancement
of the concentration of the students in a way that they can understand what teacher is trying to
communicate in a more effective and better manner. Teachers can also use mute options so as to
mute the students who are creating disturbance in the class and making it difficult for others to
concentrate in the same.
Ensure internet stability and connectivity
In order to minimise the network issues, it can be advised to the students to obtain a
proper internet connection and networking system. This will reduce the disruptions in the class
and will allow the students to attend the class in a proper way without getting disconnected from
the class. It will also ensure that large number of students attend the class so that teacher's
handwork does not get wasted (Yeoh and Popovič, 2016). Proper and effective internet stability
can increase the chance of attendance of the student and decrease the need of re scheduling and
repeating the class again and again.
CONCLUSION
From the above information it can be concluded that in order to lead the communication
in a systematic manner, Business united needs to focus on studying and acquiring insights from
the above mentioned theories of communication. Business united also need to identify and
determine the barriers that are imposing threat on the communication element of the educational
institution. In case of Business united, the company have led down various good and effective
strategies that can be regulated in operations of the firm so as to enhance and alleviate the
communication t6o the greater heights. Business United is required to be very consistent in the
exercising of these strategies in order make sure that effective communication system prevails in
the functioning of the educational institution.
